Just pulled the rad out of my VX 5.7 and i've noticed the new rad has a set of transmission line plugs on both sides of the rad. I'll only be using the passenger side holes are the drivers side holes fine to just stay capped with the blue plastic screw of caps i was supplied with?

Not a factory radiator?
It may have two coolers built in i.e one for the trans and one for the engine/steering.
Using the above theory it should be fine as there will be nothing in that tank.

It was supposed to be a factory replacement rad but aftermarket. Everything else it there its just got the exact same positioned fittings on both sides which is confusing.

Pic of rad, mine only has the 2 blue capped fittings on the left side standard.

O.K i just blew through the top left fitting and air only came out the bottom left then blew in the top right and air only came out the bottom right. Am i correct in thinking it has 2 separate coolers in it and just leaving the right side alone and capped will be fine?

Sounds like you should be ok. Do the same test again, trying to block the air coming out the bottom while at the same time checking the 2 on the other side.

Early VT LS1 radiator type up to 1/9/00 ran cooler crossover pipe like you have here. Later VT-VY went to a single cooler design like your car should have.
It's likely you'll bolt it up fine. The main question I'd be asking is whether the one cooler has enough capacity to cool the trans properly.

Id probably get some compressed air in there and cap off the bottom hole. you blowing into it will not be sufficent pressure to properly tell if the input and output are on the same side. If they are not and you leave them just capped off and it is pressurised you are going to blow transfuild everywhere when the cap blows off

My aftermarket replacement radiator was the same.
I just left the right side alone and had no problems.

Thanks fella's, its in and working fine. Definitely a secondary cooler on the drivers side, made sure they weren't linked. As for the capacity of the in rad auto cooler it won't matter too much as i'll be going a big mofo trans cooler in the next few weeks
