Hey guys just wondering if any one knows what the factory cam specs are for the factory ls3. 6.2l and the ls1 5.7l, I've tried looking on the web but can't really seem to get a cam spec.

thanks for that macca ive got my 5.7 engine apart as i got noisy lifters and were changing them so my mechanic thought of a trial as ive got a 6.2 cam and springs and also double row timing chain we thought to try and see what power difference we get out of doing this to a 5.7 the ls3 cam has been machined to fit but we didnt know the figures
Wonky

Haven't seen any results from LS3 cam in LS1 engine but in the 6.0 L98s CHE has been consistently getting low to mid 20s rwkw increase with LS2 cams and the LS3 cam has slightly better specs.

LS2 put out a fraction more than the LS3. Dale from CHE has put a LS2 stick in a L98 and pulled 294rwkw, so nothing to be sneezed.

thats still nice power results, im just doing it for fun as its my family car and im just trying to get as much power out of it without having to do a larger diff as this is 3.07 and also having to put a stally in it as my wife will be mostly driving this car its just a fun project as we have those parts im open to any one elses input as im quite curious on power results on a ls1, and wonky how you been mate havent seen you in a long time we have to catch up soon bud

Won't work no ring at the rear on the ls3 cam

also is that counting 294kw at the wheels or fly as the l98 factory only pulls between 200-210 at the wheels

That would be at the wheels mate with a tune, exhaust and OTR i am guessing.

you would hardly notice a tight convertor, even in the 3000-4000rpm range, as they can still retain lock-up. Diff gears will just liven it up and don't really alter fuel useage. :)

at wheels. stock L98/L76 with just a OTR/tune can pull 240rwkw, put on big exhaust/hi-flow cats 260-270rwkw.

Would explain as I said in my first post why I've never heard of LS2/LS3 cam in LS1?

294kw at the wheels is a bit on the high side of what im used to seeing as its normally full exhaust tune otr and yeah as dogsballs was saying 260-270 highest what is saw was a ls2 with otr tune and exhaust do 268kw at the rears at chevs

An l98 cam is girly compared to an ls2 cam. That's where the 294 comes from.
Still got me stuffed why someone would pull a crap stock cam just to fit another one. Aftermarket cams are cheap. Don't be tight

One advantage of LS2/LS3 type cams is they add enough power to feel whilst retaining stock idle which is important to some. Also don't really require supporting parts such as springs etc..

+1, although i'd do springs and remove DOD stuff.
stock idle and geez 290+rwkw say in a VZ is plenty :dancenana: (maybe not for a lardy VE)

Plenty of conservative lift and duration aftermarket cams available for that too wonk

Thats it wonky that's why I'm doing it as my wife will be driving that car and we are still replacing the springs though , just a project to see what power we would get out of it
And macca it's not being tight as my ute is getting all the proper parts this is just a little project that isn't costing me anything.
