Hey guys, i have a VE SS and have had a jerky spot in the low RPM for awhile now. It only occurs when i am slowing down and the revs get around 2000rpm or under and then it just get really jerky which it hadn't don't only hours before.

It all started when i hopped in my car one afternoon to head out it was low on fuel and i got maybe 5 meters up the road and it had a miss and hesitation. I took it back home and started it and popped the bonnet and it was making a tick sound that it hadn't made before. I left it overnight and started it the next morning, sound was still there but it didn't have the miss anymore so i filled it up with fuel and drove it abit. Took it to 2 different mechanics but neither could tell me what it was. 1 mechanic changed the plugs as the left bank was really dark and the right bank was just normal. This still didnt fix it and it is still the same.

Has anyone had a problem like this before or does anyone no were i can start?

Check leads maybe ur not getting a spark to a cylinder.... '

Broken rocker or spring try getting a screwdriver and placing ur ear on the butt to here for a knock.

Fingers crossed ticks from the engine are scary...

Take it to a mechanic that has diagnostic equipment ! , they should be able to pin point that pretty quickly.

Hi Craig,

Is the car auto or manual?
What engine?
Any modifcations?

Sounds like a possible fuel issue, but too hard to judge.
Like Luis said, best way is get to a shop with the right equipment.

Cheers

Hey thanks for the replies.
Yea the leads were replaced when the plugs were checked so there all good. Yea i had 2 big mechanics locally have a look and they couldn't really understand what it was.

Hey bud, the car is a Manual.
It is the L98 motor.
Only modifications it had at the time it happened was a full exhaust which it had installed about 3-4 weeks before.

Yea thats what i thought could be a issue but i didn't want to pay for a new fuel module and then not have it fixed.

Headers will make your car leaner.

Did you get a tune done at the same time?

Your "tick" could possibly be a leaky header? Not sure about the other stuff except to say a decent mechanic with the right gear should be able to diagnose it pretty quickly.

Cheers

As Luis mentioned, take it somewhere where they have some diagnostics equiptment. Perhaps push them in the direction of checking the O2 sensors ;)
