Ok I posted in another thread re my MY9.5 SSV Sportwagon
It went for 45000 km and never used oil
Now that it had its service, 3500km later it was almost out of oil.
About a week after being serviced, I noticed the induction noise seemed louder than normal, so I popped the bonnet to discover thst they had left one end of the Ramjet hose disconnected, and directly above that, there was a fist sized section of bonnet liner missing
Easy to work out that it has been sucked off by the engine vacuum and been fed through the motor
I instructed the explicitly nt to touch the ramjet as I would do that myself
I took the car back to them, and they replaced the bonnet liner for free.
We have agreed to do an oil consumtion test and see where we end from here.
What is peoples thoughts of the bonnet liner doing some internal damage that is causing the oil consumption?

Have you taken a look inside the intake manifold to see if its sitting inside it?
You might be lucky it hasn't gone further than the injectors. It might be stuck to the back wall of the intake?
Bugger of a thing to have happen though..

That would give me absolute sh#ts..... especially after having told them not to touch it !!!
However I doubt that any real damage to your motor has occurred. The bonnet lining material has more than likely been frayed & injested over a reasonably long period of time - rather than coming off in one large chunk.
Unlikely to cause any oil usage problems either - probably more likely that it wasn't filled to the correct level during the service....
Hope the consumption test goes ok.

I agree that the bonnet lining is unlikely to cause damage. I have seen an engine eat a piece of denim rag and apart from a lot of effort to clean it out there was not lasting damage.
Did you tell the mechanic working on the car or the person at the front desk? If it was the person at the front desk you may have been better off talking to the desk. I have not seen many that A. pass the message on or B. would have known what you were talking about. Of course this is not always the case.
Damage or not though it is really frustrating when someone fixing the car stuffs something up and it is you that is constantly inconvenienced trying to get it fixed. Not to mention how do you trust them again?
Hope it all ends well.

Most likely burned and crushed up in the engine over time, possibly still pieces in the TB or manifold, being organic material, though I would still have it noted on the invoice and service record just in case something happens to the engine later.
