Should the phillips H7 low beam extreme vision bulbs be easily installed into a VE R8?

I have some that I was going to have installed today, but the mechanic who was doing my service statde that were not the right bulbs.

He showed me the bulb that was already in the car and it had a black casing around it with a connection point below it.

I bought these bulbs after one of my previous posts and getting a few opinions.

In VZ etc yes, but in VE they're H7 low beam, H9 high beam. Are you sure the new ones are definitely H7s? :weird:

I was lead to believe they were H7.

I got them from Autobarn and the bloke that served me swore H7's would fit.

Can anyone tell me what bulbs do fit?

Do I just go to a HSV dealer and get standard bulbs?

VE's lights:
Highs are H9
Mains are H7
Fogs are H11, but can use H9 if the tab on the H9's is cut off.

Pic of lights. H9 on the left, H7 in the middle, and HID (for main - H7) on the right.

White Ghost - sounds like old mate has pulled out your high beam bulb and shown it to you.

Cheers

Yep, that's the bulb on the left.

So therefore, the bulbs I have (H7) are correct?

The bulb on the left is H9 for high beam.

The bulb on the LEFT is an H11 for FOG Lights / Driving Lights on the VE :)

The globes for H9 (65w) and H11 (55w) look the same but the H9 socket has a little internal tab that needs removing if using in place of H11's.
The H11 plug won't fit with that tab in place.

Ahh, no. It's a H9. As surfwagon has mentioned the H11's look similar but rest assured there isn't a H11 in that photo.

Your mechanic has f**ked up and pulled out your high beam bulb and shown it to you.

If you have the bulb on the left then you have a H9 for your high beams. The guy at Autobarn is correct, H7's are the bulb you are after but not what you current have there with you. You're after a H7 for your main driving lights (low beams) and it looks just like the middle bulb in that photo.

Sorry for the confusion but I do have the bulb in the middle (H7).

Just need to get them in.

Any suggestions?

Tried myself but do not seem to be able to get my hand behind.

Start pulling some things apart so you can get behind there.
Start with the cold air intake box for the passenger side.
