has anyone painted their extractors with high temp paint ie with stuff like this
http://www.vhtpaint.com/img/can0000flameproof.gif

and what was the final result and how well/long did it last.

just thinking this option instead of HPC coating

Prep them well and it will work fine and last.

Bought a can of flat grey today to do my extractors

Yeah I have painted 3 sets in silver with the cheap stuff from Supercheap it's lasted really well and dirt etc seems to clean off well, sandblasted and cleaned thoroughly before painting. A mate of mine used black and I wasn't that impressed with the result and they stained badly.

i painted some black over some freshly painted in blue and blistered in parts. even with cleaning down with prepsol etc. too lazy to take them off and do again though. so sanded and sprayed over, so far ok.

I've never had any luck with it, they always end up looking crap after 6 months

Used it in the past, only time I had good results was on freshly blasted headers that were washed with thinners, I get all my hot parts Ceramic Coated then a coat of Black TurboX over the top.

I pick up the Difillipo's next week so you can see how it comes out.

Ive used it on the stock VK EFi extractors, and on the VYII HSV extractors on my SS.

Still looks good on the SS, But the VK extractors need a touch up, but its lasted quite well.

I used the Black VHT Coating
