ive been looking at camming my ls3 clubsport. as its a daily driver im now deciding what is the best option. couple of mate say supercharge it. ive been looking at the harrop htv1900 or the htv2300. ive had a price for the cam package. but was woundering what a rought price on the supercharges installed are. And what other modes need to be done.
i already have dual 3inch and CHE 1 7/8 headers and hiflow cats. and CHE tune.

Thats how much i was thinking.

Depends what he wants from the car, i had a cam and a supercharger and it was great.

But depends where he lives some cop don't like big cams and superchargers,
my mate has just got a superharger with no cam and you can't even hear the car running, the cops never even look at him.

It will depend on what clutch & fuel upgrade you use & how much the blower is at the time but it will be close to :

Price of blower $10,000 + $2500 fit & tune + $2000 fuel system + $1700 clutch = $16,200 approx, i'd definately allow $17k just incase.

Cams are fun for a while but you get used to them pretty quick but i guess the blower would be the same after a while it's just alot more money initially.

My vote is for the blower if want to spend that sort of money on the car.

For everyday drivability and stealth(ish) factor I would go the 1900.

Have had both and both are great but very different.

Instant torque and power all over with SC is great and will, in my opinion, be easier as a daily.

Two different price points and it depends on what exactly you want from it, sound, feel etc.

LS3 is a brilliant motor so either way you win!

Having been down the cam route with my last car, i sorta regretted it being a daily(as much as i loved the sound) especially around town in stop start traffic. Granted cam choice was a factor in my instance(i went a big cam which prob wasn the right move), this time round im just going down the blower route with bolton's as ill have the extra power on tap but without the headaches or hassles.

Congrats on the new car Boon. Will be great with your planned mods.

Good info for the op as well.

With a cam, the tune is the most important part. Don't go looking for cheap tunes, I would do it once and do it propely because a bad tune will make you regret the cam. Any size cam can be tuned to be a daily. I've got a 240 duration cam in my 6.0L and I have no issues at all in terms of hunting, stalling etc. I drive it everyday. My old vz ss 5.7 with a 224 cam wasn't tuned right and would stall randomly and hunt when cold. It ended up costing me more at the end to tune it twice.

You really will need to change your driving style with a cam. It took me a good few weeks to get used to driving mine as is was the first cammed car I'd ever had. None the less I absolutely love it, but the power becomes "normal" in no time and you'll be wanting more :(

No matter which you choose, dont think for a second there won't be complications. Even the smallest of mods cause extra problems. Make sure you have the cash before choosing one way or the other, and prepare yourself to spend more than what's quoted and be prepared to take the car up and back a couple times.

For drivability, if you drive a supercharged ls3 slowly, you won't even be able to tell it's charged. Give it the boot and it will come alive. That type of flexibility is perfect for a daily...

Loads of good advice for you already !

Im sure either you will enjoy, you already have a great power output, more than my cammed VU had

Personally, a blower is your best bet, biggest increase in power, plus able to take off and sell at a later date. Only trouble is, if the bonnet gets opened, its there for the world to see. Does that bother you ? can you get one fitted with permits ?

Blower whine over cam lope any day of the week.

Ive had both and well would get both again in a heart beat, especially when one compliments the other and you get the lope and blower sound and the extra power with both.

If the issue you have is it being a daily, don't go too big on the cam.

i have neither but from what I have seen a cammed car is very hard to beat on the street.

I HAD Cam only, and loved it for a while, but as others said it becomes "normal" after a while, and what options do u have after that... build an engine or FI...

Now as of friday, I have BOTH lol

accept I have the Magnusun M1900 which I think is awesome, very nice to drive in the street, manners are great, but powers there when I stab it.

the whole permit side of things, well, bottom line is the "permit" dont mean shit, if the cop dont like u, you'll get a yellow end of story..., worse case, unbolt it, run it over the pits, and put it back on once passed, pain in the ass yes... but its either that, or dont get one, for what it would cost to engineer, pass all the bullshit, it'd be cheaper taking it off for the pits IMO :)

My suggestion, maybe look into cappa's blower package, think it was $7999 fitted anywhere in Australia, if u keep the standard boost, u'll get away with standard injectors, fuel pump as they will be able to handle 6psi.

But thats my opinion anyways
