Hi boys, Im about to put a cam into my ls1 that I have waiting for ages to arrive. Any how, If I install the cam is it going to be safe to drive on the mafless tune that is already in it until I have the funds for a re tune to suit the cam? Also what is better to use, efi live or hp tuners?....cheers.....Cam is comp 228 230 112.

Reading other posts here some advise not to drive. U might b ok to drive a short distance to the tuners...

to many parameters will be out, fueling, timing etc from a bolt on tune to a cam tune.

wait and install the came when you have the funds to get it tuned.

lol, i wouldn't drive it i have found out the hard way driving un tuned cars lets just say it will cost alot more then a tune.........

I wouldn't drive it.

HPT/EFIlive will do the same job.

Cheers guys. It has oztrack mail tune atm, I think is efi live. But local tuner has vcm suite.I guess I just have to get it unlocked and buy another licence?

Yeah, I don't think Oztrack locks the PCM.

I got quoted 1200 bucks for a dyno tune which I thought was a bit steep. That was to use HP tuners. Is that around about the going rate?

Sounds about right....will be the same for EFILive...perhaps cheaper though...Worth doing some research - i.e. calling a couple of reputable shops and speaking to them about what u want to achieve and what your budget is.

I had the same cam in my SSZ up until a month or so ago when i went bigger.

Doesn't oztrack do a remote tune as well ??? If you give him the cam specs he might be able to flash an appropriate tune upgrade (saving you a few $$ on a full re-tune from a different tuner).

Down in tassie. car is vu ute. Being in tas you dont have many options if you dont want to put your car on the boat.
