Hi Boys,
I am new to this forum and was wondering if I can get some information.
I drive a VY 2004 V8 SS Crewman with a M32 auto transmission, back in November 2010 at 117,000km, the tranny started to hold between 1st and 2nd and short change into 3rd (I guess the previous owner did a lot of heavy towing). I had the Crewy booked in for an "overhaul" and was rebuilt within 3 days by an auto trans mechanic, and the computer was re-mapped by an out of town Holden dealership/workshop. After 1,500km the Crewy went back in for a free service, where all seemed to be fine. Later on in Janurary 2011 at approx 120,000km I noticed a rattle right in the middle of gear changes that lasted for the 1st 10km of a morning. I asked the auto mechanic what may be the problem. He didn't seem to know, so I left the car with my local holden boys and he travelled over the next day and test drove it. He told me there was a stone stuck in my cat heat shields?? Yeah right! Later that week I needed a new tail pipe and the exhaust bloke looked and there was NO stone. SO at 130,000km I asked my Holden boys to do another auto service as well as the regular bits and pieces. The next morning the rattle was gone?? Go figure!
But now at 150,000km we noticed that in Drive on take off up a hill once in 2nd gear when gassed a little she slips back into 1st and really doesn't know what gear to be in. I have not noticed this as much in PWR mode. But still wants to 'hold' 1st gear.
I am heading out of town this Wednesday to the same bloke so he can drive it to try and diagnose the problem.
So what I am getting at is after 2 trans services within 13,000km of each other WHY is this happening? We have not towed at all. I some how dont think the job was done properly to start with.
Should I be looking at getting another tranny thats already buggered and re-building it to make it "harder" than the standard M32?? I know of a bloke who builds race trannys.
This car will be towing burn-out/show cars later in its life, but is a daily driver and I cover 70km per day at the moment. Will a 'harder' tranny be bothered by general day to day use?
Any advice would be grealty appreciated!!
THANK YOU!!!
