As the title reads got a showroom condition VN S Pak, never been thrashed. Not too long ago the coil pack & module underneath it failed causing it to run horribly. After about a month of that getting fixed and replaced it was getting harder to start in the mornings then eventually the battery went dead. We charged it up fully and it lasted for 2 weeks before dying again.

Did a test and found what looked like the car was drawing current from somewhere. Did a quick test and couldn’t find anything and the battery weren’t holding its charge during the test, so we put it down to the battery. Got a brand new one and everything was sweet went well.

It’s been 3 weeks since the new battery has been put in and it’s completely dead again!

Have checked the boot light, glove box light they all go off and am now kind of left scratching my head.

Any help or suggestions?

Silly question, but when it's running are you getting 14v ?

if your alternator is charging properly get a mulitmeter and run it inline on the battery terminals and check for current draw of the top of my head i think you are looking at less than .5 amp i could be wrong if it is higher that pull out the fuses one by one until the current draw stops once you have got that far then just check the items on that circuit

double check the boot light. very common fault on VN.

thanks for those ideas guys it gives me a starting point, especially the one about the fuses. yep the alternator charges the battery at 14, i have been locked in the boot and the light goes off.

Don't forget to also check your "ignition relay/s". They also control charging from the alternator.

just an update. have done the test and try method and have narrowed it down to the interior ilum. when i pull the fuse out it stops the drain of the battry. YAY. Now it means i have no idea where to start.

have already checked the boot light and it goes off when you close the boot (have been locked in there) which only really leaves the door switches and the interior dome light which could be causing the problem.

the glove box light works off a different circuit as its still working with out the interior ilum fuse pluged in.

so any tips on what might be a possible cause or for where i should start looking would be great.

cheers guys
