Hi all
Have an opportunity to let an exhaust company use my vehicle to develop their new 3" cat-back system for a VE Sportwagon. They are a reputable mob (and the exhaust they did for my last VY Ute was awesome)...
My question is to all... who would let someone use their vehicle to do this, if there is an incentive then for what he said " a considerable discount" on the cat-back when finished.?
Do you think there would be much chance of "damage" if they are doing much revving without moving vehicle etc - or do you think just go for it?
cheers

I wouldn't, even I they gave me a free one. They would need to fit/test/drive multiple times to test for drone and noise under wot.

I dont think there would much chance of damage as long as they do good work
but id be wanting a free exhaust minimum if they used my car

Considerable discount should mean free.
Or, they should even pay you! And then give you a percentage of the profit on the sale of all future exhaust systems.
All a bit too hard really....
And how long would they need to have your car for??

yer that's what I was sorta thinking - and at this stage we have not discussed timeframe required...
They have made the system already for the ute, but it different for wagons and sedans I believe, so I guess there would be a fair bit of fitting/refitting etc.
I think I will ask for an absolute freebie if I do go ahead.
cheers for comments so far, I am sorta the kind of guy that doesnt like lending his vehicle to anyone... :)

anyone with some "exhaust manufacture" experience have any input as to whether they would do so in the same predicament?

What company is it?
I would if they gave me a free exhaust and paid for all fuel etc.. and agreed to cover any damage that may happen. Do you trust them, do you need a new exhaust is it going to benefit you more than hinder you????

if you could get a free exhaust, and the other stuff mentioned by bearwood. I would do it, but no damage cover I wouldn't

Yeah that would be ideal... but at what cost?
Does lots of stationery revving effect the vehicle too much?

Can not be any worse than useing your ute for clutch testing ha ha

they would have to road test for drone etc

I would be fine with it on the provision that I am the one doing any driving. If you are testing for drone you do not NEED to be driving. Oh and a free exhaust :).
This way I can control how my car is driven yet still help a reputable company develop new products for the rest of us...

How long are they having the car for? How much does it cost to rent a similar car per hour from Hertz Avis etc?
Free exhaust would be the minimum I would expect...in Stainless.

Am waiting for phonecall from the manufacturer to discuss the above (timeframe required etc).
It will all depend on whether the exhaust is free and in stainless I think as to whether I go ahead and inconvenience myself I would think.
Thanks for replies and will keep posted...
