Wondering if anyone has used Seafoam to clean out their LS1 & if its any good. Seems people swear by it in the states but cant find it down here in oz. Liqui Moly Engine Detox seems to be a similar product but not sure if this stuff would be safe to run through vacuum lines like Seafoam?

Go to a Subaru dealership and buy a can of "Upper Engine Cleaner". Magic stuff for Subies for removing carbon build up.
...but for half the price a company called threebond make an upper engine conditioner which is an awesome product, as effective if not better than the subaru stuff. repco sell it.
liquimoly engine detox is just a fancy oil flush far as im aware.

They most likely make it for Subaru under licence. Trick is to use it regularly.

That is how I used it in the Subaru. You find a vaccuum line that will give best coverage into the intake manifold.
Run the engine until it has warmed up. Take off the vaccuum line and spray half the can into the manifold and leave for a while to break down the carbon deposits.
Start car (it may take a while to crank over). Once it starts rev it for a while. If it is doing its thing correctly you will get smoke coming out of the exhaust. this will clear after a while.
Then with a helper. Spray the rest of the can into the tube while having someone slightly revving the engine to stop it from stalling.
When empty put the hose back on and take it for a drive. It will blow smoke for a while and hopefully you will be able to feel a change.

Always best to change oil after this though

Yes best to do this before an oil change.

Try this site if repco can't sort themselves out. Maybe one of the other people on the list can help out?

Speaking of liquid moly's fancy engine flush, has anybody given this a go on their LS motor? Are their any significant benefits? And likewise with the upper engine cleaner, are the results justified?

Is this a waste of time and money if u run ur engine on premium fuels already with detergents..?

My car had an issue with pinging about 18 months ago. After having people look at the timing/mixture, fitting an oil catch can etc we eventually worked out that it was carbon build. We used subaru upper cylinder cleaner on my car and once complete, the car stopped pinging, and even picked up 2rwkw on the dyno which confirmed that it was the case. I can definitely recommend this product or anything that works in a similar way - it is not a waste of time, and the car even felt like it drove a little bit better.

Not really. Most of the oil build up is up high on the inside of the inlet manifold ie above any fuel/injector spray. I remove the throttle body every 10,000 k's & give it & the inlet manifold a good spray of carby cleaner to remove any oil build up.

Where did you get this from? Seems both the Threebond and AMSOIL are quite hard to get here in WA...
Any suggestions?
