I recently had a tune and OTR. I planned on letting the insurance company know but hadn't got around to it. On the weekend my car got broken into. Smashed window, damaged door, broke glovebox. PITA....

I was wondering if the OTR will be an issue now for the claim? Obviously it has nothing to do with the breakin but you know what insurance companies are like.

Has anyone made a claim with an OTR that their insurer did not know about ? How did it go ? I'm with SGIO here in Perth. If someone has had experience with them please let me know.

I guess I could round up the original bits and put back to stock if the risk of getting a knock back is too much.

Cheers

That is what I would do, just to be on the safe side. ;)

Ahhh mate i was same boat last year with the insurance company (SGIO Also) when my car got keyed and was packing my dacks about it. The guy who did the inspection actually commented on it saying (oh did that come from the factory? when i said no hes like well sure looks like it does) closed the bonnet and off we went he commented on how clean it all was and no probs.

Unfortunatley i had to get inspected twice by 2 seperate guys cos some F*ckstains keyed it 2 weeks after it got fixed first time round and no problems either time.

You should be fine aslong as you play nicely.

I had a claim for a front end accident 2 months ago, my wife was driving at the time and was at fault. The otr was actually damaged in the accident. Not only did the insurance company not say anything, they also paid for a new otr. That was with nrma.

My car was inspected at the local AAMI assessment centre in March after my minor prang back then. Didn't even open the bonnet (no need to) but I wasn't worried because it's listed on my policy (not as OTR from memory but modified air intake). He saw it exactly as it's been for 2+ years i.e. full exhaust (loud), lowered (then on SSSL + Monroes) etc etc.. :)

Seems weird that my insurance company pop the bonnet to photograph the plates in the engine bay for whatever reason

One of the repairers I got a quote from did this when I had a damaged rear end. The guy at the assessment center did the same as well. I think it may have been to record the paint code.

Had my VY SS go through an AAMI assessment centre a couple of years ago with no issues at all. Front end damage as well and it was my fault.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Because of these I decided to just take it in with the OTR. I had no dramas.
