Im looking for opinions on lowering, I am almost happy with the way my VUII SS sits with FE2 suspension, but would like a tad lower. Would king spring lows make a difference? From what I can gather they should be around 15mm lower than FE2, is this true??

And with such a small drop would it be wise to replace shocks with short throw units?

Last question, how much would my ride quality suffer with this setup? At the moment this is the first car I've owned thats not lowered, and I am loving the ride comfort, would be shattered to lose this back to a harsh 'feel every bump and every stone on the road' type of ride...

From what I've always been told Lows are the same as FE2..

I just had Super fronts fitted in my VY and it's pretty much perfect for how I want it now, probably about 20mm lower than the FE2.

I have kings lows on mine, they are most definitely lower than FE2. About 20mm I reckon.
The car sits low enough but not too low to look like a w***ers car. (IMO of course) :)

Ride quality will always suffer when putting lower springs, mine did, but not by a massive amount.
Then, to do it right I fitted a full camber kit and Koni shocks. That's the path I took and am extremely happy with the result, but the ride quality is still not as comfy as it was.

My 2c.

It's not as comfortable, but I'm willing to bet it handles a hell of a lot better then it did!

If you went with king lows, you wouldn't have to change shocks. There's not a big difference in shock travel. However, to get the best out of the handling, and to minimize the car bouncing, lowered shocks should be a serious thought. You can have a full set of Monroe's for around 400. It's not a lot and will make a big difference. Koni's like vxss346 has would be even better.

Kings have a reputation of ride height varying with their springs. So 20mm on one car and 30mm on another.

Definitely handles heaps better. :driving:

Agreed, its not essential to change shocks, but .....'to do it right' I would.

Yep, that was my experience with Kings Lows, didn't drop the car at all. As mentioned by jfp in his post, Kings springs are like a lottery. Their are cars on here with Superlows that have the tyres sitting just level with the guard, whereas my VT with superlows has 2/3 of the tyre tucked up in the guard at the back and tyre just tucked at the front. If you want an exact height without the guess work take the car to Pedders and tell them exactly what you want, might cost a little bit more first up, but you wont be going around the bouy for another try later ;)

I put pedders touring springs in on the rear of my vxss and it lowered it
15mm so the wheel arch now sits level with the top of the tyre. Ride quality is the same as the FE2 i had. All cars are a bit different though.
