So the family and i went car shipping this weekend. NEW/USED.

looking at the Clubsport E series.

Now this is my opinion, series 1 and 2 "did" look good but since seeing series 3 it shits all over them.

I gave all 3 a fine look over and just pleasing on the eye series 3 is by far the best. And omg i cant beleive how much they lose their value going to wait 2-3 years and buy a series 3 for 45-50k instead of 70ish...lol

Gotta love time wasters that go "car shopping" three years ahead of when they can actually afford them. Well done :) Hope you didnt waste any salesmen's time, the punters that wanna buy now pick up your tab! :hide:

Very doubtful that a series 3 will be 45-50k in 3 years, just look at the my09 ls3 based series 1's which are still around the mid to high 50's.

Wow. In 3 years time you could very well change your mind on what looks good, or what you want/need. Maybe you won't. It's easy (and expensive) to get stuck in the groove of wanting the latest - it often is the most desirable.
But yeah, hope you guys had a good weekend shopping

Taste does evolve over time for most. In 3 years, the new holdens will change so much, the new normal will be very different. But I have to say they do keep getting better and better.

I changed about 5 cars in 3 years. Considering the e3 is the latest Edn. it obviously looks the newest. BUT in 3 years there will be other series and you probably won't be so keen on an e3.

They do, however, drop in value quite quickly. Cheapest e1 clubsport with decent kms is $33,000 on carsales ATM. That's nearly half price in 4 or so years.

Oh and if you want to spend 45-50 buy an e2, they look exactly like an e3. Then you won't have to wait 3 years!

I was originally looking for a brand new e2 clubby but ended up with an ls3 e1 GTS which i'm very happy with it.

the ls3's still get a premium. if you're not so worried about it, the e1 ls2 based models are well priced.

In my opinion the E1 looks more grass roots, nothing fancy but rather just all business.

The E2's and E3's look to gimicky. I'm not saying that they look bad, rather they don't look sports orientated anymore. (which is what HSV is all about?)

I remember Scott Grant mentioning that he was trying to shift HSV's direction about being all about performance, but really, is this the right way to go about it? Maybe I'm alone on this, but the E2 and E3 seems a bit over the top compared to the E1.

E3 has the best interior too, by a fair margin I reckon. Much better than E1 and E2 so I don't know if that means anything to ya!

Rear wing supports are different on the E2 and E3 Clubbie and GTS. Not sure if there are any other external differences.

Comparing E2 to E3 GTS here -

E3 exhaust tips are larger and mounted to the rear bar, E2's mount to the exhaust and are smaller..

Rear spoiler is different

E3 GTS has chrome strips on the top of the doors, E2 didn't

E3 also has the chrome bootlid strip & I believe the black plastic bits on the front & rear bars are bit different.

dash and edi im talking about, either that or the salesman showed us a series 1 thinking it was a series 2......as externally it also had the series 1 bonnet.

No your not alone I have the E1 and I wont be changing over to another HSV unless they stop the car looking like a xmas tree. I reckon a RHD camaro might be the go for my next car but thats another 2 years off for me.

I've got an E1 LS3 R8 sedan on the market now if you are keen. The last of the good lookers!

Not much difference from the outside on the E2 to E3
You sound like a tyre kicker. If the E3 looks so good just go ahead a buy it.

I am sure in 2-3 there will be something even better looking.

Also HSV hold their value better than other cars, go buy an Alfa or and Audi and see how much you lose after to years.

Anyway all the best.:sux:

Thanks for your insight, but before you judge someone you need to know who they are and thats something you have no idea about me or how many tough cars I already own and have built and have graced the street of Sydney since the early 70's when you probably were not even part of this world.
