Have abit of a question about the breaking system on a VZ Monaro, I take it should be the same as a VZ SS?

The reason I ask is last night I hit the brakes hard at 60km to avoid an animal, and the ABS kicked in because it made the noise that it normally makes. I then went to take off and the car was making the same horrible noise coming from the rear, like shuddering or as if the engine wasn’t running on all eight cylinders, especially under heavy load and before it changed into second gear. No warning lights or anything come up.

Is there something I should be aware of after hitting the breaks hard?

if the traction control was kicking in, would the TC not display in the screen on the dash? it almost feels similar to the trans problem i had in the VW passat where it was slipping and shuddering in 1st gear, changed the oil in it and the shuddering stoped but the trans kept slipping. its the best way i can discribe the problem im getting now.

is it normal for the TC to keep kicking in after you have braked hard?

Doesn't sound right to me. ABS & TC should only be evident when needed - not after the fact... You haven't cracked a pad/rotor have you ???

Is it running OK now? I was thinking maybe the EBA was still active. It's got EBA right?

Sounds like your ABS module might be on the way out.

Well I nearly got cleaned up at a intersection tonight! I went to put my foot down to get across in time, as that's what you do when you got a V8 & all that happened was it shuddered as if the TC was struggling to grip on take off & I lost power..... When I slowly apply the accelerator no problem what so ever.

TC sensor???

I have been having issues with my fuel pump not priming properly on start up, could it be it's struggling to pump enough into the engine when throttle is opened up?

Sounds a lot like fuel starvation.
Had the same problem on a dead pump in my old VS many years ago.
Maybe from the sudden braking something has stuffed up.
Hit the go pedal and it sort of hops and bounces like the engines cutting out.

I disagree with your comment about "as that's what you do when you got a V8" to get across an intersection, but I am old and still driving my car to work and back..It's not a V8 if it's shutting itself down...might as well be a Pulsar or a Laser.

Have you been to any of the workshops in Adelaide to get your car looked over ? There are a few good ones, that don't need your money, but will steer you in the right direction for what YOU want. Or I did offer up a good HSV mechanic to ya b4..

What side of town you from ? There are a coupla in the North, one or 2 in the middle, and a coupla in the South.

Send me an email at fitzysx10@gmail.com as I would love to try and help out a fellow Monaro owner, so that you can post up more joy than grief.

It might read like I am a bloke who knows fark-all about 'our' cars, but I am not an eejit.

Cheers
