Seems alot of people have problems with drone on their exhausts in different rev ranges (mine between 1500 and 2000). Was reading about J pipes addition to your exhaust and that they have had success with cutting out the drone almost completely but retains the V8 note. Any one had this mod done to their exhaust and the results on an LS1?

Heres a link for some info..

There is a guy on eBay who sells them (Hemholtz Chambers).

I'm seriously thinking of doing it with my XForce 2.5" cat back, it's not so much the noise that annoys me rather the vibration from the resonance.

I just have to find the funds then I will be giving it a go.

to get maximum effect, it needs to be adjustable, so needs a long slip join and clamp, then you will have to basicly "tune" your exhaust. but it will work. not sure why they havent taken off in the market, its a cheap and easy way to get a bit of a note.

I should note one thing though, at the bottom the seller says that 'they're designed to fit the original system' so an email to him might be worthy for any changes required for yours.

:thumbsup:got a set on my VE and all good (designed for v8 only) dont know about any oher model v8(may need to speak to your exhaust shop for that) but even the wife likes them and when you start up they sound good even at idle not realy load but do make it soud like what it is a V8! when you open it up it really has a nice sound to it, mine are not sliding/adjustable as mention to tune them to each car, no hint of drone unless 6th gear and trying to go up a steep hill, and even then only a small amount at about 1650 rpm, so change gear as you should and just pure v8 growl:driving:

Glad to hear they work for you. Asked an exhaust shop guy and he didnt know anything about j pipes and wasnt interested in doing the mod. People like to stick to their own methods and routines I guess.
Cheers

I ordered a Solo Performance G8 axle back system arrived from the USA in 5 days with paying the extra freight cost. 5 minute job to swap over .... as in it was literally a factory replacement kit. No real drone in driving through Rev range .... however it does at the moment have a cavitating drone at cruise idle on the highway when the AFM kicks in .... so I need to climb under and adjust the J Pipe length this weekend to see if I can get it to disappear completely.
I spoke to Jeff at Solo about doing a bulk order price if enough guys are interested ... biggest saving will be in the shipping alone.

I took some videos of before and after ......
