Hi guys,

I'm looking to change the green radio screen/dash lights in my vy to white and red. Seen a few cars that have had this done.

Does anyone know a reputable place that could do it in Melbourne? And how much this would cost??

Apologies if there's already a thread about this, my iPhone won't let me use "search".

Cheers

See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=1907054&#post1907054 - he is in Melbourne somewhere according to Ryan (DukeZ). Oops! Just read in a later post he can only do VT-VX. :( Maybe he can do VY now?

There was also a forum member I bought something from about 18mths (or more??) ago who did it who offered to do it on my daughter's car for $200 as he had done his own and a few others. I'm pretty sure he posted the same info in a thread somewhere but can't find that post or remember his user name.

Not in Melb but you can order their kit so you might be able to find someone local to install it for you.

Mate the VY dash is easy to open, and the globes etc are pretty easy to get at.
If you get anxious and can't find someone to do it for you grab a slab and come around one weekend and I'll have a go at it for you.

I replaced the head unit in my VY Crewman with a nice clarion, replaced all the speakers, reactivated the steering controls, carbon fibred my gear change area and apart from one or two screws left over (isn't that always the way) it looks very professional.

I haven't specifically changed the colour of the globes but how hard can that be :)
I'm in Doncaster/Templestowe area about 10min from Eastern Freeway (Doncaster Rd) if that is close to you.

Cheers
Rick

Vy dash clusters are nothing like the older vt vx style. The lights are tiny smd LEDs and to replace them they need to be desoldered and new LEDs soldered on. It is possible and a friend of mine did mine but unfortunately he doesn't do others due to the cost of the LEDs and the time it takes.
