Is it worth replacing the standard cats on an R8?
Will be getting a catback system put on but just want some advice.
Cheers

Are you planning on fitting bigger headers aswell? If you are then yes you will need high flow cats, if your just doing the catback then no i wouldnt bother with them unless they're on their way out.

You will gain a bit from high flow cats eg Ballistics but the extra few kw your SOTP meter won't even notice unless you have a very sensitive seat. :D
Probably best to leave if/until you change headers as it won't be a particularly cost effective mod given the work involved and will also mess up being able to sell the HSV headers and cats as a set (quite popular with people who don't want to go aftermarket on SSV).

Cheers for the feedback.
Will only be getting the catback system, keeping the rest.

Getting a cat back this weekend utilising the HSV headers mated to 5" ballistic cats and dual 3" exhaust.
VE HSV headers are apparently quite good, so wasnt entirely necessary to change them.

Got a hurricane system, $800.
Fantastic note, no complaints as yet.
Gear changes feel better.

What sorta improved flow would a set of HSV cats have over stock SS/SV6 etc cats?
