Hi guys,
Is it hard to install new pacemakers headers to a VE SS? Or is there someone in Perth that can do a cashie job to do it? (I'm happy to watch and learn also)

I'm guessing it would be an ideal time to also install high flow cats? I already have a HM Perry cat back exhaust.

Cheers,

Depends on what header and cats you are putting on, as if they are long ones, the catback will need to be shortened to accommodate.

The process is easy on the passenger side, can be annoying on the drivers side if they are big 4-into-1s - may have to undo the steering column where it bolts to the rack

Should cost about $200 for someone to install the headers (assumming no modifications are required). Getting the O2 sensors off the cats was a show stopper for me (could not get my hands up to unclip).
If you are doing headers and catback - get cats done at the same time.
Installing catback is very simple.

easier to unbolt rack and let it drop. passenger side easy from the top. big pipe 4-1, usually require to go from the bottom on the drivers side.

No need to drop the rack.

Just undo the streering knuckle arm (13mm bolt).
Just mark it before hand (so the steering wheel isn't crooked).

PS Take out your spark plugs before starting too. It's another 10-15mins but it's better not to risk breaking one.... and the temp sensor on the passenger side head.

Header bolts are 13mm and the gaskets are marked (ie manifold side).

Just take your time and you'll be fine :)

Also depending on what headers you use, you may need to get creative with the dip stick tube.

:yup: The sponsor I used to use spent about an hour extra on my previous SSV sedan trying to get HSV headers to fit with the dipstick tube. :weirdo:

That's because in or around 08, Holden decided to change the design and position of the dip stick tube. Perhaps Planet Davo can shed some more light on that change. Fortunately this did not adversely affect the design of most of the brands out there but I have seen with the newer more bendy shaped dip stick tube models, 2 people feeding the tube back into place. One from the top and the other from underneath (using a hoist of course) relocating the dip stick into position because you just cannot see it from the top.

I actually have new pacemaker headers and universal cats that need to be welded up and mate with my cat back exhaust, and the reputable exhaust shop i went to this week in Heidelberg locally ddnt want to know about it... because i didn't buy the headers of him, and it's too much of an effort... Wtf!
I'm guessing that response means its pretty hard to do, and/or this guys a knob

I'd say he's a knob, anyone who runs a exhaust shop should know how to fit/remove headers.

If you get stuck hit up fishla @ NJC...he look after you:), or even try aps/chevs/vcm.

First step: point wheels straight. Pulls keys from ignition and then wiggle the steering wheel to enable the steering lock. You misalign but one turn by not doing this and the steering wheel has turned you will get an ESP fault code because of a steering correlation fault. Holden you go to get it recalibrated

Or it spins uncontrollably after you take it off like a customer did and break the clock spring
