View Full Version : Advice on cam for turbo set up please!!

hey guys just need a little help if someone could!
I have a vz ss 6L (L76) an it has one of solids gen racing 1000 turbo kits on it, I'm looking an puting a cam shaft in it the cam I'm looking at is a 229/242 114lsa 631.. will this cam be ok for my setup? as I am looking at purching it today if it will suit..

Have you removed the DOD lifters?

hey jezza the motor is stock besides a set of springs an a custom fuel system with twin 044 pumps 1/2inch fuel lines rails an a boost reference reg an a kaaz diff with 3.9s if I did the wright things would this cam work well with the turbo set up or no good for boost mate?? would a cam like this need head work the guy I'm looking at buying off said speak to a tuner ( someone like ya self mate) an see what they says he thinks it will work

Would word fine with boost but check the PTV.
First you you need to change the lifters, valley plate, etc (convert it to an L98). The DOD lifters in an L76 and L77 cannot take much lift or they will fail. Once you have changed all of this over then the world is your oyster.

that's awsome would you reckomend that I buy the cam then as I would do the changes that you just stated! do you know where I can get a set of L98 heads an how much they cost??do you have all the parts I would need in your work shop could I purchase them through you maybe mate only coz you know what I would need

I couldnt say 100% that the piston to valve on that cam would be ok, you would have to check. It would require dual valve springs. You already have L98 heads (technically they are L92) which are a great thing.
