View Full Version : supercharger belt lenght

Im up grading my supercharger a Harrop HH112 to an 8pk over drive pulley kit and the belt that came with the kit appears to be to small, its an 8pk2240. I rang Harrop and they said its the right belt, but there is no way it will go on with the tensioner adjusted right up its still 15/20mm from going onto the pulley and if it did the tensioner would have no travel left. I have checked the route of the belt and its on the correct way. Any idears from other people that have done this up grade.

when i had it on my vy with a vz PS pump and 10% over drive crank and 80mm pulley it was fine.

i run the same length belt on the ve too.

you should be going around the crank, around the idler, over the top of the blower, back under the water pump to over the PS pulley, down under the alternator, back up over fixed idler than crank again.

There are 3 different size power steering pump pulleys, and 3 different size supercharger drive pulleys, and two different size idler (not tensioner) pulleys.
Many years ago I did a drawing/chart that listed the various combinations and the required belt lengths, but not all of the team now at Harrop may know the chart exists. Perhaps ask for Tim Harrop as he will probably know where to look it up.
From memory, the 3 8PK belt lengths are 2224, 2240, 2260. (I recall the 2260 was sometimes branded Cummins Engines).

Thanks Ken. I did call Tim and there are a number of belts to suit the kits, the one they sent me was the 2240 which was to small I went to Bursons today and got a 6pk 2275 (as they had no 8pk in that size) which fits it perfectly and going to order the the new belt tomorrow.
From the part numbers from my up grade kit Tim was able to tell me that I have a 5% overdrive balancer and a 75mm blower pulley. I dont know how they came up with the 2240 belt it was never going to fit.

The belt lenght for my application is 2270 and I dont know were Harrop get the 2240 in the part kit, it was never going to fit surely there would have fitted and supplied this kit before, anyway I got it all sorted, anyone want to but a 2240 8pk belt new never used ;)

Geez Allan, that pulley upgrade has caused you some trouble. no doubt it'll all be worth it.
