If you own a auto business in NSW and have been looking at joining the VSCCS you should read this before joining
Basically in a nut shell you are liable for your work and if a claim is made against you ,you have to pay the RTA now called the RMS $25K excess for any claim made against you as a individual
You won't see this money again until the claim is proven to wither be false or not your fault
The RMS will now allow the new certificate holders to pass just the mods the customer wants
So if the rest of the car is illegal no prob just ask for the wheel ,suspension or just the engine mods to be passed
But and i say but they also expect you to as a license holder to DOB in any one who has illegal mods so the RMS can act against them
We all know this won't happen as who is going to dob in there customers
This new scheme is meant to increase safety on our roads yet to qualify to become licensed to sign off mods you only need a cert 4 ( a trade as a mechanic or Fitter and tuner with experience in the industry and knowledge of ADR's for the area you apply for? not a degree as a automotive engineer
The RMS has also just give all the current engineers until the 19th to sign up to it as after that they can no longer sign off any work
So in other words sign up or you are out of business
Pass this on to all your mates and shops you use in NSW
