I came across this on ebay, its sounds like a great little toy to add to your car (bit of a show off/wow factor), but how does it go with the factory alarm and everything?

Has anyone bought one of these or know someone who did from this bloke? would like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

also keen on one of these, seller appears to have good feedback, but no idea how it would work with VATS etc without the key being inserted?

Last time i checked is they are illegal in australia and in my opinion dangerous in a manual car as what if you leave it in gear????
Wouldn't waste your time nor money better things to spend money on.

i think its cool and i would "waste" my money on something like this. just disappointing how the seller hasn't added any pictures.

i tried looking on youtube and couldn't really find anything.

I remember a thread about this a few years ago. Yep, IIRC, remote start is illegal in Australia though it'd probably be OK on an auto that has a neutral switch of some kind. I have it on my Subaru and it's awesome in the summer to be able to start the car and have the A/C running for a few minutes before heading out to the car.

hahah it would be funny if somehow someones garage door or something starts your car.

Pity... The pontiac version of the VE got remote start on some models. The button is on the normal ve remote; they separate the boot release button into two with one being for remote start. Wish we had it here- run the aircon on hot days before ya get to the car!

I knew a fella who had one on a statesman about 15 years ago. I asked why did he get it and what use was it?

He said, "Oh...its just a wank."

At least he was honest...

I too was looking at all the feedback and making sure all the dates and time looked legit as do the sellers. it seems he has sold alot of stuff apart from the remote start like, auto windows up, SS chip. im wondering whether some how he by-passes the silver ring around the ignition to permenantly be on meaning, anyone could ram a screw driver or similar into the barrel and start the car. it doesn say all you really have to remove the steering coloum cover and fuse panel lid.

i also made mention in the question i sent to him, that you have different words in your title like body-kit but under neath in the description you mention it is a remote start.

i did read somewhere, where someone purchased the G8 remote start and fitted it to their commodore, they were cluey and worked at Holden so probably knew what to do. Also doesnt the VE not have the silver rinf around the ignition?

There are solutions for that. You can get a spring loaded switch on a lanyard. Basically it ties around the stick and only closes when in neutral

There is actually a module behind the key barrel, with a ring that clips around the barrel and senses the key inside the ring.

Would love remote start for my ute!

Neat, but pointless for anyone who has any type of kill switch installed.
