Hi guys checked my car today vx ss auto and noticed the rear rubber coupler between diff and tailshaft has got a few splits in it front one is fine. never fitted a new coupler before are they just basically drop down rear tailshaft and replace or do i have to pull out whole tailshaft which i dont really want to thanks.

hey bud my advise is to change it asap happen to mine started off with a few splits and then i was on the freeway and heard a bang had a look under my car and the coupler was destroyed. i fitted a new one but mine was the front coupler near the gear box i had to drop the exhaust and then undo the coupler bolts and then drop the tail shaft im not sure about the back coupler but from my experience you have to drop the exhaust and coupler. and i had the car on jack stands no hoist :) good luck if you need any help let me no but change that coupler asap before it causes more damage i will post a picture of mine when i get a chance

Shouldn't have to drop tailshaft, maybe exhaust depends how fiddly you want to get. Undo the 6 bolts, 3 either side and it should just slide out.

Won't just slide out there is a spigot going from the tails haft and diff, u need to drop tails haft at both ends, centre bearing and exhaust

I concur, have to drop the tailshaft.
Defiately take Smiddy up on his offer, they're ridiculously priced for what they are!

Do Not . buy from holden , go to Hardi Spicer and buy it . They are exactly the same part . HS make them for holden and charge about 1/3 the price of holden..
