Hiya fellas, just after some opinion/advice/experience on a pajero '07-'10 diesel models. Seems a better value than Prado and I kinda like it more than Prado, but I don't know their off road capability, overall reliability, common issues etc..
Appreciate your input.

Good question, just waying up the same. Pajero's seam much better value for money. I dont think off road capability is as good as other's

My brother had an 08 diesel prado and father in law has 2010 pajero, I like the prado better as it seems to be a more suitable candidate for proper 4wd driving as he has put a lift kit, air locker diffs, dual batter system, bars, the prado seems to have more available accessories to go offroading

Yeah, I think Prado is a bit overpriced to be honest..
I won't be doing full on bush bashing, but I wanted a 4x4 when I find myself occasionally off road where awd would be hopeless..
Pajero seem to have a much nicer interior compared to Prado..

Without even checking modern day prices of the two, you'll always find youll pay the premium for any toyota 4by. I think when my old man bought a patrol he walked away with the ST (medium range) model with most options for the same price as the bog stock cruiser with nothing. The older cruisers do hold their resale a bit better and they last longer generally, durability and reliablity engine wise,( in most cases) i think there are problems with the v8 diesels burning oil etc. But durability comes at a price in that i find the interiors in toyota very plain and boring. Made to last, not look good as others.
All this in general information from my experience i havnt really looked inside the newer prados, it all comes down to what floats your boat, I dont think people buying couple of year old cars are worried about what reliability theyll have after 250k k/ms down the track. and im sure the pajero is quite capable off road
Hope that helps a little bit

one of my employees just traded his 2008 turbo diesel pajero because something major went wrong with the engine, I dont know exactly but Mitsubishi admitted it was a common fault. I will ask him again what it was, it got to the point where it hardly ran, when he traded it he was advised to thoroughly degrease the bay and advise the car yard the MAP sensor must have a small bit of water in it hence why it ran like balls.

Overall though, i thought it was a bloody nice car

I have a 08 Diesel prado and the inlaws have a 07 Diesel pajero. Pajero is a nice car but the toyota has a quieter engine, a bit more grunt (prado is manual and pajero is auto) and is a little more refined, but you do pay good coin for them. Nothing wrong with the pajero plenty of them around.
