ok people i'm a newbie on here, been reading posts for a little while.

basically i'm searching ideas for a new car.. i like the VZ SS with the 6L, VZ Clubby, and the VE SS commodores, but lately i have been toying with the idea of a Monaro, 2004 model with the full size boot and vz dash.

the car would be left standard, or as i buy it for 12 months, before i throw some cash at it - exhaust, intake, tune, maybe cam or forced induction depending on finances (and the fact i'm a massive tight arse). just wondering if i have missed the LS1 tuning era? are shops still tuning them, or have they moved on to the L98/LS3?? also, while i'm at it, are there known problems any of the models i'm looking at?

cheers

Only a cosmetic issue, but check the leather/leatherette near the front windows. Sometimes they shrink and pull away from the trim.

good news, now i just have to wait for the right car at the right price, don't want to spend more than $25k, but i'm not in any hurry to rush out and buy anything... and test drive a few cars to see if i can knock any off the list..

cheers people

Not to late mate, I just jumped on, still an awesome engine and still plenty of tuning and support around for them. As far as Im concerned the LS1 5.7 still makes respectable power with the right mods compared to the later model 6.0L's.

Get with the times mate., LS1's are yesterdays news.

However they make good power and are relatively cheap so if going bigger will break the bank, LS1's are a great compromise and still give you a smile every time you jump on the go pedal.
