Need to be validated I think.
Pretty sure you need 2 validated members to nominate you for validation and then mods review it, or something like that.

I know exactly where your coming from,i feel the same.......

I own some very nice collectables and can,t share,as i,m in the non-validated and rarely contibutes club.

In this club, people in threads treat you SOMETIMES like your some kind of idiot.

Well you blokes, You've only been here a short time. Ive been heres since 2004, and Im still non validated and cant see certain things. But that does not worry me a great deal, sort of learned to get used to it. I still interact and contribute, it is a bugger at times though when you cant see some aspects of the forum. Especially when somones linked a picture, etc and you cant see it.

How do you mean? Like you cant share pics, etc? Thats just a post count issue you need at least 50 I think before you can post up pics from a provider like Photobucket.

20 posts in the TECHNICAL forums to link to images
Images you can't see are because people ate uploading them to the forum and they arnt actually allowed to. It's only for the forum garage.
Clubs you have to become a member and go to a meeting to be voted in, validation is kinda like this
The validated forums get bugger all posts in them

The only time you should see a message regarding permissions is if the person has put the file as an attachment on the forum rather than an IMG hyperlink, which no user should be doing.
All images should be linked from external hosts like photobucket or flickr. Any images that are put on the forums as attachments will be deleted from the posts they are in, as the attachment feature is only for the "My Garage" images (and the garage is currently disabled anyway).

To link images from external sources to your posts, you only need 20 (counted) posts.

I was going to give you an example of a thread in the last week or so,where a member was showing off SOMETHING,that had just arrived,so i have searched endless threads and its vanished,or i carn,t find,

so i went to another members profile that i follow, knowing he had posted about not being able to look at the pictures either, searched his threads and the thread is unable to be found ,more secret squirrel stuff i,m guessing.

It can be annoying but at the end of the day you have to play by the forum rules.

Hell I've written a few technical (How-To) articles and I'm still only an "Occasional Contributor to the Forums" because I've only got 148 post (not including Tar pit etc).

I've only ever met one "validated" forum member here in bris...it's lonely on the northside!

That was Pickles and his new Mercedes I think? Pics were put up but the Non Validated could not see them.

If the post in question contained pics that were uploaded as attachments, it was very likely removed for the reason I specified above. No secret squirrel stuff, we just don't provide image hosting.

Non-Validated user can't see "attachments", which is one of the reasons we don't allow them, the other being the cost of bandwidth to host images for 40,000 users.

Good to see your on the job XLR8 V8,

i was going to post up another example in the my ride coupe section ,where one of the guy,s was kind enough to put up my pics for me,there was a link under the pics that didn,t open, and wammo she,s gone.

Anyways, when i try to put up a pic out of photobucket,i carn,t copy and paste,it will only let me copy the direct link like so,this is a pic of myself ,and my partner.

It would be much better if i could put up the pics myself, without relying on others, and one other squirelly one, untill recently every post i made had to be checked by a mod before it was included to the thread, this was painful,as the thread had moved on by the time my comment was added, that has now been fixed,by a helpful moderator.

You have the requisite number of posts to allow you to post images, so it is most likely that you are doing it incorrectly.

As for the validation thing - we have people who reside overseas validated - to become validated, if that is your wish, then get involved in the activities that occur throughout the year and if there is nothing up your way, organise something and meet other forum members.

cheers

I suspect the only reason your pics won't work is you are doing it wrong. On Photobucket if you hover your mouse over the pic you want on the thumbnails page a series of links should appear in a small new window. Clink on the bottom one (Image Code) and you should see the link is replaced momentarily by "Copied". Then in your LS1 post just do Paste and the link will appear, surrounded as required by and . Even if that doesn't work you have two other alternatives. One is to click on the "Insert Image" icon at the top right just above your new post, click on From URL (I doubt the "From Computer" link works as pictures have to be externally hosted) and put the URL in, preferably using Paste. That automatically adds the required and notation. The second method is to manually add the and yourself. If that doesn't seem to work edit your post and make sure it says at the start and at the end of the URL and not and .

FWIW there is rarely, if ever, anything of interest in the Validated sections, so don't feel left out. In the early days of the forum they were apparently more widely used but in the 7 years almost since I was validated I've only seen maybe one or two things of interest in there.

thanks macca33,

The validated thing doesn,t bother me now,as i had a different understanding of it,like some kind of DUD or RETARD,which i,m not if you look at my wonderful pictures,of me and my partner, lol.

MYVYSS,bahahaha

WONKY,
thanks heaps for the detailed explaination,i,ll see if i can do it,might take a few goes though.

I love the old monaro,s,as you can see, when i was a young fella,i bought a few and the XU1 when they were affordable, but it was every cent i could raise back in the day,and have enjoyed them ever since.

I must admit, the VXGTS,we have is an impressive machine,i got sam at samsperformance to fully rebuild the engine with H beam rods, diamond forged pistons, comp cam, blablabla, they are a great car,as they handle and STOP,which my blue monaro doesn,t do very well,it is very fast and scary though.

Yeah thanks, done the search thing, and the end result didn,t work,if i had a week to read all the none related stuff,i probably could of found the thread that worked, but thankfully there are a few that don,t mind helping a beginner.
