With any luck the video will be attached.Ive had the lifters replaced around 10 tho km ago and before that I had new ones installed with the cam which was around 5 tho km before that.So by now im getting used to what faulty lifters sound like but want more opinions and thoughts on it.Mods are cammed ls1 ssz, 224/224 .581 112, patriot gold .650 springs, 10 thou off the heads just a skim, pacey tri y,ballistic 100 cell, built catback. Now the oil pressure seems fine, ive changed viscosity every 5k to see if that helps which does to a small degree. The noise is noticable most when at a set of lights with a car next to me,it bounces back.It doesnt seem to be an exhaust leak and its only on the passenger side at the very rear of the motor.any take a look guys and tell me what you all think.

Can u hear it in the car when driving. It only takes one lifter to do die

Its only very faint from inside the car due the exhaust noise, but def there.I should add that the last lifters to go in were comp cams anti-pump variety, never used them before,if that has any bearing on things.

Try Castrol edge 10w60,shut my car up.
Been through similar problems, these engines are noisier than steel blocks, but the oil does makes a huge difference, now i,m happy.

yeah ive read the threads from people that switched to the 10w60 and they have done so with some success,it seem to be about the only combo i havent tried.Time to use the last of my xmas supercheap gift cards i guess lol

Id be accurately checking the lifter preload seeing as its cammed before going any further

Thats something ive never done before and wouldnt know where to start? I may need to read up on that and from what Ive read so far the anti-pump up lifters i have are adjustable. So does that mean the intended load can change over time?
But in saying that I would hope that Hi torque performance would have that all under control when they did the lifters last time.

If they are hydralic lifters, and standard rocker gear i don,t think they are adjustable.
My engine has a big cam etc,and no adjustment needed,i changed oil to nulon and the engine became very noisy, and i became worried, changed back to castrol edge and the horrid lifter noises we almost gone straight away, and over the next week it shut up all together.

Anti pump ups are esentially solid lifters and not adjustable but typically you need adjustable rockers to run them which could need resetting, why youd run anti pump ups with a cam that small I dont know
I could be wrong though

I was using edge 10/60 and the lifter noise always annoyed me. I am now using edge 5/40 and it's a lot quieter than before.

Anti pump ups are high performance hydaulic lifters ,that bleed down at high RPM,so that the valves will not float, and retain valve seating at high RPM.
Solids don,t move at all in there make up,so adjustment is critical, and should be checked at intervals.

When one of my lifters died in the lead up it made more of a tick tick noise on start up and idle but went away after a few minutes, your video doesn't seem to sound the same, as a previous poster said alloy blocks transmit more noise. I'm not a mechanical expert on these things its just my opinion from my experience with my car. As per the other posters probably try a different oil. Good luck and keep us posted.
Cheers, Matthew
