Hi All,

I will be going to the USA in a couple of months and thought i could pick up a cam a bit cheaper there then here? (please correct me if im wrong)

so first of all, anyone know of any performance shops in Los angeles or las vegas that will cater for LS1 Cams (going into a Vy2 calais)

My second question is, what cam will i need to purchase?

im looking for daily driveability - no stall or spring upgrades - just want a new cam.

is something like a 210-218 too small or is there a number i should be looking at from low down torque all the way to redline?

thanks

Hey Mate,

Have a search on ls1tech and i'm sure you will find one. One that is recommended though is Engine Power Systems(EPS) it's in LA.
I would find Pat G on that site and send him a PM and he will spec up a cam for you from EPS. These cams are all the hype over there.
But i would organise it at least a month before you go as they can be slow sometimes getting the custom grinds done.
I don't think you will find a cam worth putting in your car without a spring upgrade and if your keeping the stock stall i would go for around the low 220 mark cam.
Although EPS do a 222/226 at 112 and this has been a proven cam which makes the numbers, pulls from down low and will work with a stock stall.

Speed Inc. (http://www.ls1speed.com/shipping.cfm) aren't near las vegas but they have free shipping on orders over $100.
You would just need to make sure thay ship it promptly (if your only there a short time) as it took a while for me to recive the last order i placed with them.

You are far away from having an upgraded cam....From what you have just said above. You need to know what you want the car for 'foremost' then it takes for ever to decide what cam is going to give you what you want or as stated above, contact Pat G for a custom cam.
You don't want to upgrade springs....means you are not ready to even look at buying a cam.
You have weeks & weeks of reading to do just for the knowledge that you should have.
failing all that, just take your car to one of the Sydney tuners on here.

if you can afford a cam its almost a certainty that you should do springs, rods and lifters to play it safe. springs/rods/lifters combined might cost the same as the cam so its not a huge extra outlay but definitely worth doing otherwise you could find yourself having bigger more $$$ problems not far down the track. might as well make the most of the cheap stuff whilst your in the states, otherwise just look an otr and tune locally.

i assume you have an exhaust already done since the cam is your next move?
