Have you tried a HSV parts center?
I had the same issue when i bought my Clubsport a few years back, so I just got it straight from the dealership and got a panel beater to fix it up for me.

did they charge you an arm and a leg for it?

The plain black grille mesh for the Clubbies won't be too pricey. The chrome GTS grill mesh is blardy OUCH!!!

Can't remember exactly but it was between 100 - 200 dollars.
Or you could try online at Holmart. They may be cheaper.

When I got the W427 bar the proper grilles were going to cost me about $300 from memory, which I couldn't afford or justify at the time so I just went to Autobarn and got some of their black mesh for $19.95. I think it was a metre long by 250mm wide, certainly enough to do my 5 grille sections with some left over. I doubt anyone would even know unless they saw mine and a genuine W427 side by side and in fact I'm 99% sure it's looks identical to what HSV used on VX Clubbies. It also comes in other colours eg silver and red from memory, possibly others.

This is very common on the Y Series, mine had it and nearly every second one I looked at when shopping also had it.
The clips are a joke, it was poorly thought out by HSV (or their supplier).

As others have said, just get some mesh and bend it to shape and screw/silicon it in.

the front bars are a slightly different style but it looks like they could use the same mesh grill across the bottom. that would be good if you could, cheers.

I'm sure that's the same mesh Autobarn sell for under $20 for enough to do your whole front. Will look much better new and save on postage.

the plastic moulds from the vz are slightly larger than the vy dimensions. it may still work but im not entirely sure because i havent looked behind the front bar to check mount points etc

The HSV ones are actually a bit different to the Autobarn mesh. A different sized hole- same shape but different. If the upper mesh in the bumper is still attached you'll notice the difference.

Agreed, the standard clips / melt attachment is crap.

might be worthwhile changing the mesh up top as well if its that cheap....
