Yep by all accounts they were umming and ahhhing but I don't think we'll see them line up on the grid for 2012.
I have a BIG problem with this.
They changed the rules to reduce them from 990 to 800s to 'Make them safer' (stupid Ducati's going 351kph at Mugello).....even though all the riders (Rossi included) said 'MOTOGP would lose it's spectacle'....
Being that an 800 is easier to control (plus all the gizmo's) means that they actually made them faster - through the most dangerous part of a track for a bike rider - the corners!
In 2003 I watched as McCoy, Rossi and Co spent ALOT of time sideways (esp after Lukey Heights), smoke peeling off the tyres the whole time....so naturally when I went in 05/06 I went straight to the same area, NOT to see a single bike sidewauys all weekend....*yawn*...well maybe a little but no where near the 990s....
So low and behold they are now going back to the big bikes....the cost in developing both the 800 and now the return to the big bores has put pressure on a lot of factories but Suzuki has felt it big time after only running 1 bike in the premier class...
Very disapointing. What was also very disapointing was the fact that the GSXR under SBK rules was setting faster lap times than the GSV-R....a (highly modified) road bike doing better lap times than the prototype class????
That's a bit like saying the Honda production *race* car was faster than the Honda F1 car....or Ferrari etc etc.....fairly amazing really that our standard factory road bikes (with some fairly serious mod's mind you) are capable of running with the GP bikes....
Dark day in GP history considering Suzuki is the 2nd oldest motorcycle factory behind Honda....
Sad sad days - especially for Suzuki fans like you and me! :(
