Quick question:
When selling a car on carsales.com in NSW, am I meant to put Yes or No next to Road Worthy Certificate? The car is a 2009 Mazda 6 and obviously registered and roadworthy, but is the RWC only applicable for other states? I just don't want a potential buyer to hesitate buying the Mazda because there is a NO next to Road Worthy Certificate

Arnt all cars sold meant to be sold with a road worthy certificate. To state they are road worthy? Fair enough it has rego on it, but it might have been road worthy then but not now kinda thing

Hmmm....I don't know. In NSW, if the car is less than 3 years old, you do not need a pink slip to get registered. You can just go online and register your car. Also, I have sold a few cars in the past and never had a RWC to sell them.

I think you will find its a 5 year exemption for RWC now in NSW for new vehicles. my 07 VE will needs its first pink slip this year.

I've just read that you don't need a RWC when selling a registered car in NSW, however it is highly recommended.

In QLD it's called a Safety Certificate, which MUST be obtained prior to advertising a registered car for sale (therwise you can be smacked with a $500 fine). I have sent an email to CarPoint along time ago regarding this and never got anything back.

Better brush up a bit - it's now 5 years in NSW before an inspection (ie "pink") slip is required. If it was me selling the car, I'd spend the $30- to have one ready for any purchaser. Gives them one less reason to quibble about price...

5 years...Damn that's a long time without an inspection. And you're right, that $30 would be money well spent. Thanks for your input Peter :goodjob:

In WA we don't have anything like this so whilst you say 5yrs is a long time we have nothing like it to help us out.

Whoa...so cars in WA, regardless of age, never have to go through an inspection to get registered each year??? That's pretty scary

In qld you don't need an "inspection" unless you sell it or the rego runs out and you reregister. So if you buy a car and never sell it or let the rego lapse you never have to get it inspected

At this point in time we dont, just wait til the government needs some money and it will happen.

^^^ Same with QLD. We only have to get it done when selling or if the vehicle runs out and has to be reregistered. Most people up here would be up shit creek with out a paddle if they had to get their car inspected every year lol

most cars everywhere would be :yup: it doesnt take long for some relatively new cars to be un roadworthy with things like sand blasted windscreens, bald tyres, faded brakes etc

In NZ its 6 monthly after the car is a few years old.

It is one way to get the shit boxes off the road

Same in Tas. There are cars on the road that would have been there for 20+ years and never had an inspection. Dont need them when selling either, only if ur rego runs out for 3+ months.

One law I wish they did have here, there would be a few less bogans in clapped out VN commodores about.
