Hey guys, will be getting new wheels in next few weeks and want to get some good tyres.
I will be going 245/35/20 and 275/30/20.
Ive been looking towards either nankangs (had them before and they were good for the money) or kumho ku19 (heard good things)
Anyone have any opinions on them or maybe others that you could recommend?
Thanks

Have you seen http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?116209-Kumho-KU19-v-Falken-FK452? I've had the Kumho KU31s since I put 10" rears on my SSV sedan and have only ever had 10" rears on the ute. My rears were replaced at about 26,000km and now at 46,000km there's plenty of meat still left and wear is very even (was only checking while it was on the hoist at Chev's yesterday). Wonder if the H&R coilovers and sedan rear sway bar are helping now? Fronts have been on since first day and still have plenty too. I can't push through corners as able bodied people can but have read others who say grip is as good as OEM.

I also run the staggeres Kumho KU19's in the same size as u mentioned and there great both in the wet and dry.

Also had the KU31's before these and they seemed to slip a little bt more than the KU19's, but thats just my opinion.(keeping in mind I have 570rwhp)

The FK452's are also a bit quieter than the Kumho's. I have used the KU31's and found them a bit noisy, but also a bit slippery when pushed, especially in the wet, not awful but not great either. Also noticed a fair bit of bump steer with the Kumho's. I haven't tried the KU19's.

Currently on the SSV I have the Bridgestones and am quite liking them, I had them on my Mazda 6 MPS but went through them far too quickly, the Mazda chewed the outside of them really quickly, maybe only 25,000k's. The SSV has a much more even wear rate, and hence they are faring very well. As an example, with the Bridgestones on the MPS, there was NO wheel spin, EVER wet dry anything, with the Kumho's, it was fairly easy to get them to spin especially in the wet.

dont know what the tyre prices are like over east,

I can get them here in WA for abut 1000/1100.. if that helps u working out what they'd cost over there??

Price doesnt always reflect performance in this case, they are cheaper, but they are good too, and value for money they were worth it.

got a quote today for the falken 452 = $990 is that good or should i shop around abit?
Can get nankang ns2 (had on the supersports and they were great) = $890
Can also get KU19s from tempe for $900 but he said he will do a bit of a better deal for cash so waiting to hear back.

yea its a killer price. Just from one of the shops we deal with through work.
The other nankang price was also from one shop we deal with.
Im just not sure how they compare to the kumho and falken as ive never tried them but for the price i dont think i can turn them down.

IMO I would go the Falken FK452..but go the 285 for the rear as the 275 seem narrower than say the Bridgestone 275...

yea i asked the same guy about the 245 front and 285 rear and he wants $1050
Compared to the $810 for the nankangs its a decent jump or are they that much better?

I've got the fk 452 falkens on my ss and ns2 nankangs on my Mazda, I think the falkens are a better tyre but I don't think there $200 better. I'll be putting nankangs on the back of the ss soon.

Yea well i have them on the supersports and they were good in dry and wet so i think there pretty good. And for the price i think ill just grab them.
