Hi guys,
Probably a bit of a silly question, but here goes, could someone tell me the rankings of the HSV,s, from top to bottom?
Also explain why the best is the best if you could.
Doesn,t have to be the priciest as number 1,performance might have some impact.A fully loaded car might be a bit of a slug, from extra weight.
A bit of a doggy thread, but i might have a better understanding of peoples ideas, which is better.
thanks for any input, good or bad, hehehe.

If you are talking current models try looking here. http://www.hsv.com.au/e3/showroom/
These days they are all pretty similar weights but as in most cars the lightest is usually the quickest.
Back in the VZ days the SSZ was quicker than the Clubby because it was lighter but also had crappy brakes and smaller sway bars.

the "sportier" models are GTS, Clubsport (R8), R8 tourer (wagon) and maloo (ute) are very similar. GTS is prob the one that is just above the rest out of these 4.
the more luxurious models are your grange and senator however the senator is probably inbetween sporty and luxury. grange is made to be top of the line luxury
there isnt that much between them really, just depends what your after
they are all good :yup:
i think the SV black series is a bit more entry level ie bit cheaper but i did see one on the roads and it did look very nice all blacked out

thanks for the feed back so far,
The HSV link i do notice they have all the cars in one area, put your cursor on (see HSV )and the yellow GTS front and centre.
I,m a bit one eyed GTS for me,but a guy recently made the comment his brother has a senator, which is one up from the GTS,which got me thinking.

You can tell by looking at them that the senator has the luxury styling whilst the gts has the sportier styling. Its also has 8kw more if your that into the name and figures. At the and of the day it's the same engine but different look and feel. It depends what YOUR after not what others think...

Gts ceased being the top model when HSV decided it didn't get a decent unique drivetrain. These days performance wise a gts only has the tiny advantage due to software. Even suspension is identical with just a different mrc load between models. Because of that it's pretty clear senator is the top model with all it's extra gear. Gts used to be something special. It lost that around 8 years ago.

I don't think there's anything special a Senator gets that the GTS doesn't - other than a better looking body kit IMHO :)

GTS 325kw v Senator 317kw
Senator gets DVD player standard
GTS gets bimodal exhaust standard..I think it is an option on Senator
GTS gets launch control...not sure if Senator has that

I hate what HSV did to the GTS from VE, they used to be something really special, a cut above the rest I rarely saw one and when i did I was in awe of how cool and prestige it was. Now they dropped the price, dropped the specs and dropped my interest. I wouldnt be surprised if there are more ve GTS around than clubbys now. Well it sure seems that way theres one on every corner.
Dont get me wrong its a nice car but my jaw doesnt drop when i see one now.

Agree. I see an e3 GTS and I'm like big deal just another one on the road. Seeing a VS GTS gives me more interest.

Agree re the GTS being far too common and underdone - perhaps that will change later this year, or next year....

Agree mate, even now my favorite all time HSV is the Series 2 VT GTS. They were something very specially when first released and only 100 made.

Agreed !
Ironically though, Vs Senator, cherry black with the 10 spoke rims and the 215 stroker motor.
Now that is hot.

Hell yeah, I'd love one. 215 with an m6 is hot. Doesn't matter that the new models are faster and better in most ways. Even a VS 215 when it was new was something you would really notice, probably more so. The point is its not like it's a classic car thing either. Hell I reckon in 10 years time an e3 will probably be worth the same kind of money as a clean vs senator 215.
HSV closing the model separation differences, their pricing and their own success has been the cause here I believe. They just aren't unique anymore, or for lack of a better term their not Holden "Special" Vehicles anymore.

The VE GTS should hav been Charged, as standard, to set it apart from the rest. l too, did consider the GTS #1 in the past & would be stoked if l had a VXII GTS.

Totally agree. There needs to be some "Hardware" difference to make them a stand out difference. Even the C4B and LS1 were too similar to me to warrant any special value.

For me the differences in the GTS to R8 Price. I couldnt go pass the R8 great value for money has everything I need and more.

Yeah and look at them die in the arse for resale. You can get an e series senator for mid 30's these days. So yep dropped ~50k in 6 years. Tis why I'll never buy a new car. Just wait a little while and get a high end car over a low end car for stuff all difference in outlay.

Would never hold a car that long....Gst rebate at the start and risidual at the end, trade em in get a new one not out of pocket.

We have a red VX GTS,which is probably getting on,but is in mint condition, with a sams performance full engine, not that that makes a visual difference.Anyway we park it down stairs where all the good cars park,I don,t know how many times on return there,s a new GTS or HSV parked along side of it,and the owners are admiring our car,i feel like they have the big latest deal, but they still like the old GTS which is good.
