Chasing a little bit of information about what is the best cam for AUTO ls1 VT, I'm look at about 2200/2500 stall and 3.7 diff gears,( Already got New short engine and box(in shed) already plus 4 into 1's and 3" xforce)
Not chasing HUGE horsepower just nice daily driver.......

Call up some shops and ask questions!

2200-2500 stall is useless, a stock stall is around 2200 as far as I'm aware!

Do it once and do it right!

Speak to the guys at vcm, they are more than helpful, tell them what you have and what you are chasing from your cam.

Check out this thread details from post 70 onwards, sounds like it would be a great street cam.

Mate the best advice I can give you is to talk to the guys who have done it, read up on the forum on the builds and results.
If you go to a sponsor or any workshop they will try and sell you something to make themselves money,
you have to just do your homework, talk to people, perhaps go and see some cars and work out what YOU want. ;)

(If I went and bought whatever my local sponsor wanted to sell me I doubt I would be very happy...)

Appreciate the recommendation there mate!

To be honest though, my camshaft was borne from the selection of off-the-shelf lobes and took into account something that Sonny said many moons ago - that the oem C4B cam was a very good stick, it just needed the lobe separation closed up a tad. Mine is basically the same specs - give or take - on duration, with newer, more responsive lobes and the lower LCA.

Mattie304 - you could put something along the lines of mine in - 215/223, or a 215/219 on comp's LSL lobes, but in an auto, i'd be tempted to go to a 112 or 113LCA. In 111LCA, mine does 'chop' a little at idle - perhaps more than someone in an auto would like. Otherwise, there are some good designs on Comp's website and as mentioned, Camtech are making nice grinds also - their 212/223 isn't bad and i believe they make a 217-duration camshaft also..

cheers

I have not seen yours in real life only your results and youtube clips, it does not sound overly choppy on youtube, it sounds great.
It seems to work very well with heaps of power and torque all the way through the rev range, in an auto would it need a higher stall?

2500 stall with 3.7 diff gears in a street car with a mild cam will work great for daily driving mate.

I don't have a grind number for mine - it was a custom grind. Comp lobe No. 13014 (Int) and 13016 (exh) from memory - 215 / 223 .603/.610 @ 111+3LSA

The XR275HR is a decent improvement over stock, but you can get much better now, on more dynamic lobes.

I am running a Comp Cams 231/239 @ .050", .617"/.625", 113LSA. Built A4 with 3500rpm Dominator stall and 4.11:1 Truetrac diff. It is my daily driver and it drives great.

It is probably to wild for some peoples likings, but do not let any one tell you a big set up is no good for a daily driver. Go take a look at a few set up's yourself and see what YOU like best. I want to go bigger with mine again. 4500rpm stall and 24X/25X solid cam with high lift and 108-109LSA.

I was browing through COMPs catalog, it seems
http:// www .compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1399&sb=0
is a very close match to Macca's cam, and based on what he says would be just about perfect for you.

Nah I don't sorry mate. My car is rather quiet anyway for what it is. I have the quietest twin 2.5" Burkley system you can get. At 3600rpm, it is just as noisy as my old twin 3" X-Force was at idle, which is 90db. It has a good note though. Just quiet lol.

we'll have to catch up again pumba. I have been looking around at doing a cam swap since i'll need to do my valvetrain before going for boost, plus i need to do my oil pump anyways, and you know the drill.... while i am in there. :P

was looking at the comp lsr 281 or 285 cams but wouldn't mind getting them on a tighter LSA. was interested to hear your thoughts?
