I was researching satnav updates and came across this http://www.navigationau.com/holden.html

Looks too good to be true so I did a bit more exploring and it has a registered address of 253 Paramatta Rd which google maps shows as empty (but that was probably 2 years ago).

The whois emails are all hotmail, mobile number, really cheap.....just missing the Nigerian Prince......or am I being paranoid.

Does anyone know anything about this?

So no one has heard or these people that reckon they can sell you an update for $100 instead of the $500 from Holden?

Haven't heard of them. I'm sure many people would be interested in updates at that price.

Have a look through here,
http://gpsunderground.com/forum/forum.php
I update my GPS maps for free every 12 months. Not the same system that is in the Holden, but worth a look. I know the Toyota boys use this forum to get the CD's burnt for their in car systems. So should be able to do the same for Holden.

The IQ has its maps on an SD card which you can easily get to by popping off the trim panel next to the drivers left leg.

I reckon if you check the files on there that they will be the same format as something you can download for free.
