Does anyone know of or used a painter/panel shop in Perth (preferably) south of the river
who will paint my HSV Rims?
I have contacted Mr Mag who can do the job but its up the other end of town, if I could find
someone locally South of the river who you may have used for painting of wheels I would
appreciate if you pass their information on in this thread.
For the record I do know a few powder coatering companies but I have decided to go with Painting at this time.

Out of interest, any reason for not wanting powder coating? Choice of colours or finish?

Oh I just prefer the Spray Painted finish to the Powder Coating finish.
I want gloss black. I know a guy who owns a powder coater but I prefer
to go for Painting.

Just my preferance for Gloss Black.
I already know a Powder Coater but I dont like the finish as much
as painting then clear coat, thats all

Would very highly recommend Neil at UAR. Plenty of guys on here have used him.
Very competitive pricing, extremely fast turn around and of course a finished product that is second to none.

Well Gents, after a 6 week marathon effort I had my wheels done and they are now on the car.
You can get cheap quotes for respraying over the top of your old crap finish for $100 per rim
You can get prices for SANDblast and finish for about $200 per rim however I didnt like the sand blast finish and some painters steered me away from the final finish.
All Soda blasters wouldnt price it as it costs more in soda than to do the rims itself.
I contacted all the places as per the sugestions above but ended up going my own way.
Mr MAG in Morley quoted $200 per rim to remove ALL existing paint and recoat in 2pack paint gloss finish.
They soak the rims in a solution which rubberises the old paint and then they WATER BLAST off the existing paint thats left there, therefore you dont have
any scaring of the metal due to blasting. They totally Garantee their work and I had 2 rims which didnt seem to take to the paint too well so they continued over and over again until they got the correct process sorted. I do believe they also do alot of the local car yards as well.
Anyway My HSV Pentagons came up a treat. Very Happy with the finish.
ANyone wanting to see a picture of the rims/car just PM me your email addy as I cannot load pix on here without an Photo account.

$800 seems bloody expensive for a colour change compared to powder coating which is cheaper. Did they remove and re-fit the tyres for you as well?

Powder coating is ALOT cheaper Yes but doesnt last as long GLOSS wise they dont last as long.
If you want someone to spray over your previous paintwork then do it yourself with a spray can.
I wanted mine removed totally as the previous owner of the rims totally chipped the hell out of the.
I wanted it done right and I think I did so !!!!
