VT SS 5litre Question?

Hi guys,

I've down graded to a 5.0 .. Did a search but didn't find much on perfromance camshafts and what not.

My question is what RWKW have people got out of a roller 304 with cam only or head and cam and intake mods??

The car has pacemaker headers, performance cats and 2.5 inch to 3 inch catback..

hey ash,
i had a vtss a4
cam exhaust intake tune, made 185rwkw and was still slow, the ol 5 litre just isnt enough for the heavy vt

yes as said about, you could pour money into that block and it aint going to go nowhere. save the coin for something else imho.

i have an old VT 5.0lt in my vs ute, yeah they arent the quickest toy around but they sound a shit load better and will run forever compared to the new engines. Mine was put on a dyno a while ago and all it had done to it was the HSV chip and it pulled only 130rwkw i havent had it re-done since the exhaust etc. I have been in a few that have been stroked and cammed, they go pretty hard. But at the end of the day it depends on what u really want yourself from the car. Yes the newer engines are easier to get power out of and are quicker but what do u want?

I had a 5.0 VT SS, it was a ****en slug, drank fuel like it was going out of fashion, the stock A4 settings are arse, and overall I hated it. For the money you'll spend on heads and cam, you could sell it and buy a VT2 or VX SS with the 5.7 - you'll be in a much better place for power.

I did have a H/C vy II SS ute which I sold to buy a 1970 SS chevelle From the states.
So have purchased a vt ss as a daily and gee its a slug ( All noise No go! )..
In hindsight I should of bought a gen3 again but got the vt very cheap
I think I was spoilt when I had the ute and its very hard to go back a couple of notches..
