Hey Folks,
Will LSX valvesprings, pushrods, retainers, lifters & buckets fit my L98?
Basically I broke a Manley valvespring and a mate has a brand new LSX engine with zero k's that he has stripped down and is offering me the parts out of it.
I figure they would be fine because the LSX has the 236/242 cam and Im running the 232/236 cam.

if you beleive what GM say. all LS components are interchangable between models, so yes. in regards to the pushrods the cam duration is not the problem more rather the cam lift. Either check the pushrods are the same as your current ones or reuse your current ones if they are not bent

Thanks,
I have manley pushrods as well. Haven't checked if their bent or not but its probably a good idea too.
The only other issue I am thinking is that the LSX rockers are a higher ratio? Will that effect my piston to valve clearance?

Higher ratio rockers will increase valve lift and I doubt that you will have enough piston to valve clearance with that camshaft.
To bend one of those pushrods would be a lot harder than what happened however roll them on a flat surface will give you an idea.

what lift do you have on your cam at the moment?

same cam as in my car 0.367 lobe lift with 1.7 rockers = 0.625 if had 1.8 rockers it would equal 0.661 lift which will be valves trying to go through pistons.

are you sure the rockers are 1:8? I googled GMPP LSX engine and specs they stated were they were 1:7 ratio
edit: the 454 engine has 1:8 ratio
yeah I think you are going to have problems with PTV clearance time to get out the dremal :stick:

Ok, So I guess the final thing will be is that will the LSX lifters fit my L98 buckets or do I need to use LSX buckets? Also are they the same? The only reason Im replacing them is because I have the heads off.

Going from memory depending on which LSX engine depends which rockers I think I found that the 454 had 1.8's could be wrong though just more pointing out that couldn't go to a higher ratio rocker. If the rockers are indeed 1.7's then I would be looking at if the heads are an LS7 head as the GMPP LSX engines that have the LS7 head use a gm factory cast LS7 rocker which is 1.8 ratio and designed for an LS7 head which has the pedastel as part of the head rather than the long bar

lifters will fit but before you refit the pushrods etc check how much preload you get just incase the length of the lifter is any different shouldnt be but good to double check.
Go over the plastic buckets for any signs or cracking etc.

Thanks for your help Peter.
So if the LSX lifters are the same size as the L98 lifters then we are good to go?
