Hi all,
does anyone know if VE SS 324mm front brakes bolt up to VT models? Upgarding to Brembos and a mate wants to buy the OEM for his WH Stato.

it can be done but not really worth the effort. you will need rotors to suit and make new mounting brackets to suit. You will also void you insurance due to not being adr APPROVED.

Ok then may just have to put them on Ebay. Probebly a good upgrade for SV6 as they only have the 298mm disc yeah

I think holden make an adapter hub to put them onto vl's seen quite a few with the upgrade. most are engineered as well
so i wouldnt see a problem with a wh might just need the hub . holmart had one for $130 a side

VE brakes are ADR approved otherwise they would not be on the car, they are also almost the exact same setup as previous generation VT-VZ Commodores with only small changes made for the VE.

It was one area the VE engineers could save some money during design rather than establishing a whole new setup.

The VE rotors have a much shallower depth like a bmw 5x120 rotor whereas vt-vz had a really deep rotor hat. Also the ve ss caliper has a different bolt pattern / bracket size so it needs an adaptor. Any sort of adapter or any non original part, nut, bolt or hose isnt adr approved and by rights needs an engineers certificate that is a fact. Also the VE calipers are on the other side of the hub so the bleed nipple is the wrong way around which means you have to mount the L caliper to the driver side and vise versa which also means youll need longer hoses.

Ive got 330mm VR GTS rotors and VE SS calipers on my VY SV8 bought the set as a kit though which is the easiest way by far.

where did you buy te brake upgrade kit from mate?

i would love to upgrade my disc size, the 296mm units look bloomin tiny behind my 19" wheels.

Maybe my post was miss understood, i meant they are the same in performance due to the design being very similar and somewhat carry over!
Like i said it was one area they did cost cut on the VE design.

i think you'll find the VE brakes actually perform better than those fitted to the VY the gemtleman in question has fitted from the factory doe to the largere sized rotors doing 2 things.

1. larger surface area for the pad to operate on.
2. greater mechanical leverage due to the caliper being further from the centreline of the rotor.

These were necessary as the VE is a bit of a porker compared to the VY/VZ she replaced.

Yes agreed but point is, for outlay the benefits would be negligible. Well IMO.

When people fitted VT brakes to pre-VT era that was a reasonable cost effective upgrade, although i'm not sure on the cost i would imagine the money could be better spent on better pads and rotors!
