Cam or Supercharger

Hi Guys,

Looking for opinions out there I have an 04 Maloo m6 with twin 3" exhaust OTR etc. Just sold a capa blown xr8 (non intercooled)and want some more power. I am very familiar with the charger results but want to know what you guys with cams think. I am looking for something nice and drivable with the ability to get over 280rwkw. The wife will be driving it to work on occasion (b'day and anniversary haha jokes) so it needs to be tame enough around town. I am looking for your opinions as to current thoughts and past experiences.Thus I am currently in the market for a used charger or cam. let me know if you have any offers

That power figure will be easily achieved thru a manual with the right cam.
Again, pick a decent cam and it will still be a pleasure to drive around town and still run 11's on the weekend.

As im sure youre aware, theres a big price difference between blowers and cams but you'll be looking at around 100rwhp difference between the two...Not to mention the torque of a top mount.

I agree do both, with the right cam set up and top mount blower, you will have a great time in the car, easlity 350+ rwkw, I would think going both, and be a really good daily with a nice note to it too.

If your looking for the 280-290rwkw mark that remains nice and drivable you will easily get these results with the right cam, a top mount will give you an increase again, but change the driving experience. I would suggest having a chat to your tuner, rather than discussing what method is best, tell him the result you want, and he will point you in the right direction.

Do you have a budget? If not i don't think there is even a debate to be had, obviously a blower.

In all Fairness cams are good give good results bang for buck and everything and the right camshaft will give the results you are after. BUT due to the fact you previously came out of a boosted car you would probably be disappointed cam feels a lot different than boost. Id recommend having a look at an MP1900 or HTV1900 for what you want boost is always there and wont affect driveability for your wife and when you plant it the power will be there. Yes it will come on different to the vortech as the vortech builds boost much like a turbo where as the top mounts are making boost straight away and build boost the more rpm you throw at it. So is more progressive but it will feel stronger and will give you a decent power increase.

Me personally would go blower option and if you wanted to cruise around under the radar with the standard cam.Top mount would be awesome but with a 6 sp the tyres will be all smoke,vortech,procharger are good make boost as revs increase.Atleast with the blower option come time to sell take it with you.
