isn't that a bit like asking who in here has hemorrhoids? There must be plenty who have them, but none will admit to it in public.... :hide:

My missus has got the 2011 Sportage Diesel.
Great bit of gear.
It is a great motor with heaps of power. The auto box I have to say is very good also.
I even have to say I enjoy driving it, which I never thought I would.
If you want to ask any questions, ask away here or PM me.
Otherwise I would say go for it... we are really happy with our purchase.

OK thanks my wife is selling her 02 gto with 58k on the clock privately ,and is thinking of getting the KIA sportage platinum diesel after she had driven a few different brands
couple of Q what is the economy like round town they say 10L to 100 k but Ive heard they do better
all so can you tell me if the platinum model has RED stitching in the seats as they only have the next one down up here at the moment and the salesman doesn't know???
does the air cooled driver seat realy work
what do think of the A/C we thought it took a fair while to bring the interior temp down ,but it was a black one and it had been out in the sun all day up here so was very hot 37C
thanks

Hi Atomic
Sorry mate - we didnt get the Platinum model - got the model under it. We didnt want leather or the skyroof!
But I can answer economy - yes it does get better around town. My wife's averages around 8.5 - 9ltr/100klm. Interestingly though, it does not get a real lot better on the open road... maybe down to 7.5L.
The aircon seems absolutely fine here on the Gold Coast - no problem at all.
The AWD system is great - and that is coming out of a WRX wagon. It is not constant AWD but you cannot even sense it when it does kick in. It feels very sure footed on the twisties and in the wet.
As I said before - i hate autos... but this one is really nice. Only like 1% of the time does it have the wrong gear, and when it is wrong, the changes are very good.
5 years ago I would have never even looked at a KIA, but after looking at all cars in this market size we were sold at the 1st test drive!

I test drove this vehicle when they had no diesel available in the Sportage. Man this engine was great - was doing 4 wheel chirpies (it was a demo with 5k on it).
This was the engine that made us change our mind and spend the extra $3K on getting a diesel - so happy now we did.
My sister in law bought the base model 2L petrol model at the same time as us. Still drives nice - but the poor thing feels like it is getting its neck wrung everytime you floor it.
We are very happy campers with the Diesel Sportage, and anyone can say what they want abouts KIA's - but we love it.

Don't have sportage but do have Santa Fe 2l Turbo Diesel auto, (same engine as Kia) great car heaps of grunt slight hesitation from 1st to 2nd but transmission is toast now not sure if trans is up to the torque produced by the diesel.

Forgot to mention fuel economy, 8.5 to 9 litres per 100ks around town as low as 6.2 on the Highway Brisbane to Gladstone. Can't complain about that.
