Not sure if you guys remember my thread about choosing between a C63 AMG and an M3 - http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/archive/index.php/t-144789.html. Well, I finally made up my mind and bought something on Saturday. A clue:

Oh and Im having to use a new account because my old one seems to have been de-activated. I can log in, but I cant post... or do anything really. I get the 'you dont have sufficient permissions to perform this action' message. I have updated my email and re-validated my account but its still not working. I have also sent an email to the admin guys but have had no response. So this is my new account.

Niiiice.... The best way to make up your mind when you cant decide between 2 cars is to get both, or don't get either....

Very good choice in the end. enjoy!

No response? You emailed us at 1am then created a new account and this thread that night. Understand you're keen to post about your new ride, but try having a little bit of patience and wait a reasonable period for a reply before you go creating a 2nd account. The reason your account wasn't working was because you had not logged in for some time so it dropped into the Inactive Users group. I've moved it back into the active users group and merged the 2 accounts.

On the topic of the thread .... nice purchase. :driving:

Wonky! How goes it? Loving the ute mate. Looks fantastic.

MY2011? Yeah?

Nah, no way - cant afford an MY11 model as a cash purchase. It the 09 model (premium). A few more details on the car - it is literally in showroom condition and the front bumper has been armourfended so not even the smallest of stone chips. Has 7k miles on the clock and still has the new car smell to it. The guy who owns it is a super wealthy trader who has a fleet of supercars. His house is an absolute mansion as well. He got rid of this as he is getting in an Ariel Atom (Mugen upgraded edition).

Interesting choice mate ... you seemed to be leaning towards the C63 as the M3 was too track focused ... now you have a GT-R!

Whatever your reasons it's an absolute belter of a car and I'm sure you'll love it. Do you mind if I ask what it cost? Just interested in a comparison with the Aus 2nd hand market.

More pics please ... congrats & enjoy!

Please do a write-up and some point to give us some feedback on how it drives.

Haha. Yeah, its actually an interesting story. For my bday pressie, my mates got me a voucher for 3 laps around Silverstone in a Ferarri. When I got there I was told that the Fez had been in a crash so I could take the GTR. I took it around for a spin and I fell in love with it right then and there. Since then it had always been in the back of my mind so I just decided to go with it.

It cost £38k and thats only because it was a cash purchase (so no dealing with banks and all that malarkey for the seller). Normally a car of this condition and with such low mileage would cost about £40 - £42K depending on if you go private or from a dealer.

Will do mate. Im not by any means an experienced driver but Ill do my best with a write-up soon.

Thats ridiculous, even at £40,000 for a GTR, at the moment thats $59,500 Australian. Frustrates me so much how much we pay for cars here.

You and me both mate. Its bloody extortionate.

To be fair though, Australia has a much higher standard of livving than most countries, including the UK.

How does the cost of everyday living compare between the UK and here though, is it just as expensive to live a normal life?

He is right, i lived in Manchester for 3years a while back and at first i reallt didn't notice too much but once i got home again.. wow, you do notice. It's all the smaller things that add up to a much easier more enjoyable lifestyle.

the biggest and most prominant thing i noticed was houses. In Aus i can own a 4 bedroom house on a block of land only a short drive from the city. For the same sort of coin in the UK.. i'd have a 2-3bed walkup townhouse with about as much of a backyard that you could barely set-up a barby. Plus with electricy/heating and water over there keeping your house up to standard costs about twice as much over there as it does here.

that's just one of the many things i noticed, however i don't wanna jack this thread and turn it into a UK vs Aus thread.

C63 vs M3 vs GTR is WAAAAY more interesting anyways.

one question tho, how do you find the pupsh button starter? i found it to be quite cumbersome when i drove a test vehicle a few months back.

Its actually a lot cheaper to live in the UK and even London than it is in Sydney. Its well documented that Sydney and Australia in general has some of most unjustifiably high property prices in the world. In terms of groceries, clothes, gym, travel, it is significantly cheaper in London. As an example, a kitkat chunky bar is 40 pence here (I use the kitkat index as opposed to the big mac index - long story). A week's worth of groceries is about £50 for me. For a normal person who doesnt count calories and eat a stupid amount of fresh meat and veggies, it would be under £40.

Property prices in central London are just ridiculous though. Near unaffordable for most people.

Not sure I understand what you mean.
