My mechanic advised me a few weeks ago that he reckons I have a miss in the engine. He says when he puts his foot on the brake and holds the revs at about 2 or 2.5 the car sounds like it drops a cylinder and has like a buffeting noise.

I thought I would give this a go and sure enough it happened to me. It sounded similar to when I pulled the fuse for the ABS/TC and tried to take off; it wouldn’t really go and just gave a buffeting/dropped cylinder noise.

I then tried it again this time I switched off the TC and it didn’t do it but the wheels started to spin.

Is this normal for the TC system to behave like this (as if I was trying to do a burn out and it makes the noise as described) or is there a problem to be had with my TC system?

Lol your mechanic is pretty inexperienced with modern cars clearly. Perfectly normal mate.

No throttle relaxer on a VZ as there is no throttle cable.

isn't it part of the anti-abuse mode?!

you can adjust it out in the tune.

Correct in conjunction with torque management.
