Just installed my HSV head unit along with the hsv triple gauges, followed the steps carefully and took my time during the installation.
Turned the car on, everything worked fine from the 1st try.
Next day went to drop the car at the dealer to service the car and on the way i got mutiple "Alternator" and "Battery Saving Mode" messages.
Notified the dealer and they changed the alternator plus the battery, no more warning messages.
Went to pick the car and noticed the following (to name a few):
- Speedo/RPM is kind of lagging (you stop the car and it shows your going say 20km for 5 sec then it moves to 0).
- Turn signals not blinking - trun it on and it will stay on.
- Park asstist beeps is completly mixed up.
Of course, the dealer refused to further investigate with the excuse that i have an after market head unit :stupid:
I have read about this before but cannot recall it, such issue is always related to alternator, battery & what ?

i know its kinda basic but have ya checked to see if youre lead going from the frame to the battery is secure at both ends also check the one going to the engine, a slighty loose earth can cause alot of headachs and is easily over looked.

By the way, the car is a 2008 CR8 (HSV R8), it has 50k KM only, and the battery which was replaced was the original OEM one.
Never had any issue with the car before, ever. Car electronics never been touched or played with.
any additional reset procedure ? regulator ? BCM ?
when i switched to the new head unit i had to change the interior dash parts as you all now, the new one was the none smoker package so the Cigarette Lighter plug is not plugged to anything now but it is isolated though.

just a question, did the mechanic say why he was swapping youre battery as well as youre alternator? Just seems a bit odd to me unles you asked for the new battery.
If the car was starting normaly the battery should of been fine also that would make me think the alternator was also fine, unles it was over charging then id be more worried about what kind of voltages it was putting through the rest of youre electrical system(good sine of over charging is blowing headlights often).

They said its the alternator and i added the battery just to be safe, the hsv gauges had volt reading and yes it was dropping below 11 then it will go back to a tad above 14, did that every 5 min on the way to the dealer. along with errors like battery saver mode, traction off, check alternator, AC off, etc
Nothing blowen, lights work fine, head unit, etc but as i said everything is lagging... like if i press the buttons for the stealth mode the light will turn of after 5 sec, if i press traction control it might respond after 5 sec or might not, you get the picture.
When changing from the basic head unit to the level 3 one with the screen along with the hvac without doing any changes through the tech2 will that cause those issues ?

Car still at the dealer, went there today and the argument still that it is my fault as i changed the head unit.
Noticed one more thing, the throttle also slow in response, when reving and when letting off, it takes time to catch up.
Going to them in the morning with my old head unit to swap it just to prove a point.

FYI
Ended up being a faulty "Video-in" cable.
All works fine now.

Jebus, what a PITA. How the bollocks something like that can affect entirely different (and I would've thought seperate) systems is unreal!
