This would be awesome to see, i would love to see a commodore based looking race car tearing it up over there. The looks on the chevrolet supporters faces when they get told the origin of the car its based off is Australian. That would be priceless :)
Cheers

I Don't see how it can be a VF when it will not be released until second half of 2013.
The NASCAR vehicle will need to be released before the start of the 2013 season.

Good point, maybe its just going to be released based on a the civilian version of the Caprice PPV, either way whether VE or VF later on, it will still look pretty cool to see.

Well ... the good news has been out there for days but not much being said about it here yet.
Greatest thing is the NASCAR racecar will look pretty close to a VF/Chevy SS .
Mr Hendrick’s NASCAR team has been closely monitoring the development of the race version of the Chevrolet SS that will make its track debut at the Daytona 500 in the last week of February next year.
He said last week that NASCAR was getting close to locking in a race car design that resembles the production car, unlike previous NASCARs.
“I think it is going to be great for the fans,” said Mr Hendrick. “We are going to have a production car that looks just like it.”

Except the race cars look nothing like the street car, have you seen the Camry's?

We will have to wait and see.

It is probably still all on computer for now as they have no Chevy SS body panels to work with (or have they?)

why not base it on a current V8 Supercar, the show is going to Texas anyway.
Would probably need a change of body kit
A car could do a promo run or a 1 on 1 with a NASCAR car at a NASCAR track although I think the NASCAR's are quicker in the top end speed

Would like to see one on one or maybe shootout with current v8supercar at Watkins Glen or similar circuit.

Mbe a mix of both The Glen and Daytona or similar-best of 3
The Yanks won't believe how quick a Supercar can get around Watkins Glen

Can't wait to see what they think of our exhibition at Austin Texas next year.
Our car presentation is much better although they ( NASCAR) race much more frequently.
Would be excellent financially to be a pedaller in NASCAR - is it $50k min per race.?

As if they are going to look anything like a Commodore. 2013 Fusion and Camry below. They really mean the cars will look very slightly closer to the road cars (front/rear).

Edit: Charger as well.

My prediction is you will see the VF at the Sydney motorshow, that way it works well for both the V8's and Nascar.

You have seen what a NASCAR is, haven't you? All they need to do is change the headlight sticker.

I read somewhere that there's a stupid rule requiring at least 1000 road cars be built for Companys to use that model as their Nascar model even though there are sticker racers.

That is the case for previous years but if you look at the NASCAR cars from Toyota and Ford for the 2013 season they look much more like the road going version. If Chevy release their 2013 car soon everyone will get to see the "look" of the VF almost 12 months before it is released which could affect VE sales. Holden have never released the styling of a new Commodore more than a couple of months before it goes on sale.
Who knows maybe VF is closer than we think.

I just found this artists rendering of the 2014 Chevrolet SS on the Car and Driver site. Not that the Commodore will be identical, but I like it.
