G'day,

I'm looking at buying a September 2009 MY10 SV6 Sportswagon so have booked it in to be checked out by Holden on Friday morning.

Drove fine the other night, checked all the things that are supposed to open / close, turn on / off etc.

The only thing noticed, that infact my wife noticed, was an audible ticking noise coming from the engine bay in idle which I checked closer and sounded like it was coming from the back left corner (passenger side) of the engine somewhere. It's all stock standard. Does this sound like a normal noise? Of course I've asked Holden to check on this.

I haven't owned a V6 commodore since 2001 and that was a VS, so I don't know what to expect with the newer 3.6L.

As a side note, I did a PPSR check on it and the stupid check came back with "No Data" for write off and stolen status so I rang PPSR, they confirmed no encumbrance but advised me to check back with Vicroads... so they put me through to Vicroads and I navigate the voice prompts only for Vicroads to transfer me back to PPSR so I sent them a web query instead... *sigh* *rolls eyes*

Cheers,
Dave

PS The 'ol Roity mobile is still getting around, around 180K on the clock.. but has required some unfortunate expensive maintenance in its older age.. :(

Cold or up to temp? mines a bit rattly when cold, but goes away and has ticked faintly since the day I bought it..

Didn't note the temp at the time, I hadn't driven it too far though but I don't know if it was recently driven by the owner before I took it out. It ticks at a steady rate probably either every second or two seconds (can't remember exact but I did make mental note it wasn't a fast ticking).

Thanks for the response, I hazard a guess it's normal, but just double checking.

Good luck with everything and enjoy your new car, but should have gone a V8...I can't stand my SV6 anymore!

I say this to myself when pretrol is cheap, but at $1.65/L or heading that way I feel slightly better.

Theres nothing in it really, especially if you get a tune and run E85...it would work out to be very close.

Still take awhile to make up the difference in purchase price, and costs to own the car. And I can garantee one thing there's no way I'd drive the V8 like I do the 6 :driving: .

I paid $1.73 today at Woolies for 98 Octane,if I had taken more notice I may have gone elsewhere b4 I started.
Only paid $1.55 on Sunday at a different Caltex

Far out...
Holden checked the car this morning: "check and found normar high pressure fuel pump noise"
No major issues so we'll be buying it. Re Petrol... yikes, no more V8s for us... We did consider an SS wagon but too expensive to buy etc.

Looks like we'll now end up with 2 black commodores in the driveway

Thanks for the responses,
Cheers,
Dave
