hey guys new to the forum here but just wanted to check on here before i go pulling the wheel of in case someone already knows the answer. so anyway i bought a vx II R8 and the dealer didn't say anything about the spare but once i got home i realised he had put some dodgey VS S pack wheel ( i think ) which had been worn down to the wire and taken my good spare out! now i know its illegal for a dealer to sell a car with an illegal spare but before i contact them and let them know i was just wondering if anyone knew whether the wheel will actually fit over the brakes and all? if not i will have to get a whole new wheel and tyre.

I think there is a difference with the studs-take the car back and tell them to give you the right wheel or you going to the Motor Transport office or whatever they call the RTA in S.Oz.That's a load of shit doing that-kick up a stink

i would get the r8 wheel but they dont have it at all, i dont mind if the spare doesnt match, but there is no way im not going to take the tyre back, but if the wheels fits that wont bother me as long as it has a decent wheel on it. but yeh i was pretty damn pissed off, i just wanted to check to see if he wheel fit before calling them

What brakes are you running? Also, what side wheel is the spare currently?

you must have paid good $$ for the car.Tell them to ring the previous owner to see where it is or order a rim or refund you the value of the correct rim
Did you buy from a Holden Dealer

I think he means what Size is the rim
should be something written on the caliper-HSV or Brembo,I don't know what options there are for calipers on a HSV

just take a wheel off and try the spare,or go to a new tyre retailer and get them to do it,get a wheel alignment and balance at the same time, mbe even a Safety Check.Make sure there are no warranty dramas

it wasnt a holden dealership, just some small dealership in adelaide in windsor gardens, as long as the spare fits il be happy if they buy a new tire, i have more important things to be coverd on the used car warranty just a few seals and things leaking under the car and what not

You probably should have got the repairs done b4 you picked the car up,sounds like you didn't get an inspection done prior to making a decision, hope the workshop doing the repairs know their job and put on some decent shocks
A safety check is good insurance, oil leaks stick out but if there are other problems better to find out now

I'd be getting all 'warranty' work done straight away, spare tyre is easy to fix. Used car warranties can be very flexible and not so water tight.

Good luck with it Gregors.

Take photos of the lot, and tell him that if he doesn't fix your shit (and replace the spare rim/tyre ASAP) you'll put him in for selling an unroadworthy vehicle and he'll get an assload of fines.

when buying my last HSV from a holden dealer in parramatta, on the drive home on the highway (there was no where to test at 100kms when i drove it and the pre inspection didnt pick it up) when braking there was brake shudder. Took it back they said the pads and rotors were worn so they machined them and i believe replaced the pads.

still happened, returned back to said dealership stated they sold me an un-roadworthy car that had unroadworthy front brakes. after they said i should pay i spoke to the service desk guy, lead mechanic, lead used car salesman who spoke to the dealer principle then had new front rotors, brake caliper rebuild and new pads. all up about 2 or 3 grand at their cost.

So at the end of the day dealerships know they shouldnt sell you an unroadworthy car no matter if an inspection and road test was done. speak to them like human beings and you will get results. its not worth it for them to fight something that is plainly unroadworthy.

I know a workshop that doesn't even do an inspection b4 they give out the pink slip.
I have been there 3 years in a row and it is always the same deal,he just drives around the block and gets the braking readout
Don't know if he does it for everyone or knows I look after my wheels and the car will be o.k.I only went there as I needed a new headlight globe at the same time
Went to my new mechanic who found a few things wrong,1 of which mbe could have failed the Roadworthy-leaking power steering cylinder

To answer the original question, I don't think the VS S pack 15" wheel would fit over the front brakes of a VX R8, I would think it would fit the rears OK. Studs would be the same.

I know one where if he knows you well and services your car you don't even need to take your vehicle there.
A vehicle already in for service is just good for the test.
