Hopefully the Moderators will let this thread through in case a forum member is interested.
I don't know how the rules apply for posting cars for sale that cannot be driven on a public road and with limited information provided.
I am sure if I am wrong they will let me know and move/remove the thread I will go with their decision
My mechanic has offered me the choice of 2 Skyline's suitable for drifting so I could teach my kid to drive at the track and not worry about "breaking" it
One @$3000 needs a gearbox and he says it should be driftable/driveable at a spend of around $6,000 including a 1/2 cage
The other at $10,000 needs a motor and gearbox and has had $35,000 spent on it and has been raced previously
I am now thinking of getting her something less potent such as a Corolla
If anyone wants more info send me a p.m. and I will give you the contact details
Cars are in Sydney and cannot be road registered

Sounds like they are both already broken......how'd that happen if breaking aint something to worry about?

The only reason I posted was in case a forum member was interested in developing 1 of the cars to go racing
The cheaper car is a non repairable write off that could be a cheap start to racing-why wreck it.It is still straight with no body damage.
I may still buy it and sort it out in my time off, only needs a gearbox and 1/2 cage and pull out the non essential bits- back seat etc.
The more developed car has been raced before, photos on his web page (http://www.goproauto.com.au)with the car in action.
Nice shot of a tyre smoking Commodore on it's way to a wedding also.
His wouldn't be the first race car to blow an engine/gearbox.I didn't ask why the engine and gearbox are out, perhaps he was thinking about chasing more power
As far as my comment about my daughter breaking the car it was more that she could make a few mistakes while driving and it wouldn't be her daily driver that is sitting in pieces.Better we both takes out our need for speed off public roads and have some fun together at the same time
The guy works 6 days a week and sometimes Sunday so hasn't time to work on his race cars

IMO there would be cheaper buys out there, r32/s13 Silvia & 180 stock for track use would be a better start. Suspension update (springs, bushes etc) , decent tires/gtr brakes to begin with and a half cage will start her off learning the fundamentals of car control & behavior and then can upgrade as she builds confidence.
If you aren't set on a drift pig then look at mx5s, while not being the fastest in a straight line there are a lot of then being raced around the country and they are well balanced and a bit of fun to throw around.
Both you have been offered sound like pigs and a repairable write off you don't know what's happened, it could crab walk down the road and then is only worth it's weight in scrap + whatever you can sell off it.

MX5 is an excellent beginners car, and will be much more reliable than an old Nissan turbo thing thats for sure! :)

Just go buy a 180sx wait for it to run out of rego and go ape shit with it. You wont drift a mx5 or old corolla with out spending a few k on engine mods.

Going to get her a car and get membership of a car club so we can go to track days, probably won't worry about the drifting so much to start with.So just about anything will do as long at is tough enough to handle a hard time
Just want her to learn to handle a car before she starts with her on road driving lessons and have some fun, doesn't need to have rego as we will hire a trailer for transporting in case we need to tow it home.
She wants an auto so that takes a few cars off the list including the 2 Skylines

Take a few off unless prepared to go through boxes frequently.
While a manual can be a bit daunting it's best to try encourage her to drive one as the option to purchase an auto will always be there plus if she ever needs to drive someone else's car then legally she is ok.
This thing with young drivers with a higher ratio in the female category of refusing to drive a manual is just silly and should not be allowed to obtain a license. My brother and sister went through a clutch in the spazda 3 learning to drive, small price for them to learn to drive properly

Dont let her learn in a auto, this is why we have so many shit drivers on the road, it takes no skill or concentration to drive a auto. Maybe this is why i see so many bad female drivers...
